Y'all tired of hearing about Teague stuff yet?  ;D

Am wondering just what a search name for the inlays on his guitar would be. I have worn my fingers to the bone looking. I found a bag of similar items online once, but of course forgot to bookmark it and now can't locate them again. I also swear I saw some in either Michaels or Hobby Lobby, but of course now cannot see them twice..... and yes rum has been involved a time or two.... 8)

Looking for the inlays all over this guitar. Hopefully affordable faux ones, as the real ones are outrageously priced all over the place and the coat and boots have already set me back a fair piece.  ;)

A clearer picture can be found here:

Seem to be mostly pearl, but there are some other colors thrown in.

I would look around at mother of pearl, and/or abalone. If you're looking for the real thing, it could get expensive!  However, there are probably some luthier supply like Stewart-MacDonald. I've never done business with them, but they do have some of what you're looking for.

I agree on it being abalone. That shell has a wonderful color change depending on how the light hits it.

Never tired of reading along as you pull your Teague together. He's gonna be smashing.

I'd look at flat/round beads carved from MOP.  Try the Rock Barrel in Dallas.  I think they do mail-order as well as in-person.  They have TONS of Mother of Pearl and abalone stuff.

Addictive, too...

Awesome tip, Thank you so much. ;D

I just sent them an email with pictures of the inlays, so my fingers are crossed that they will have what I need. ;D

One more suggestion for you if you can't find the shapes you are looking for.

Been looking at a site for those too, based out of hawaii. However those are out of stock right now. I will definitely try that if the Rock Barrel doesn't pan out.

Thanks again.  :D

Found this too. Looks easy to work with. Just cut with scissors, or xacto.

Well, anyway, have fun with your project. :)

Captain Teague

Fun some days, finger wearying others. ;)

Appreciate all the help I can get, thanks.  ;D

Teague's git might be an original antique from some museums collection. Check out the headstock and the odd peg holes. Identical arrangement seen in an old tab booklet with pics of historical instruments. (runs off to search dungeon, don't hold breath)
My intentions are to commandeer a venue, sail to Tortuga, then pick, strum and otherwise play me weasily black guts out.

Captain Teague

Thanks, Cap'n.   :)

But actually that guitar was supposedly custom made by Danny Ferrington as far as Google searches can come up with. Sources say he built several period guitars for the POTC films. However I can only find stories, not an actual website for him or anything to verify it.

Good point.  ;D
Actually on the third movie home version, there is a section where they joke about that, lol. And now that I have seen it, the guitar does indeed come from Mr. Ferrington.
