I will be going! Not sure when yet, I need to buy a new car with my tax refund, and am about 6+ weeks out from getting my new Doublet, but I will be there!
I recently moved to a suburb of Austin from Dallas, went to Scarborough couple of times last year, but missed Sherwood, not this time!
Going to TRF too. ;D

Also - is there group camping at SWFF? This being our first time of many, I get the feeling that camping near people either from these forums or just people friendly to newcomers would be EXTREMELY helpful in helping us get settled in. Any tips, anyone?

If you are a first timer to SWFF and would like to camp with other forum members give Teach a shout.  Teach is with Phoenix Risen. They have a good sized area.  He can give you the details on their rules and availabitlity.

Depending on which weekends you intend to visit SWFF and how many you plan to bring with you, our camp usually has room for visitors as well.  We are Clan Procrastination and are two doors down from PR.  If you would like more info about our camp feel free to send me a private message.  :)
That goes for any first timer, if you need a place to camp and bring no drama with you, feel free to send me a note on here. We will likely have space most weekends. Opening and closing are the tightest packed so it is a matter of getting me a name ASAP if you want to camp with us.

*gifts of rum are appreciated but not required for first time campers :-)*

Wayfairers might have some space available as well. Feel free to message me as well. Don't forget we get to set up the weekend of Jan 20-22. Come on out and meet some of us.

Nomad: With any luck I'll actually make opening weekend.  If so I'll take my typical walk about Friday and see if I can find y'all.  Hope to make the Jan 20 clean up but that one is still up in the air also as to whether I'll be traveling for work or not.

If you do come out opening weekend, if you see me, be sure to introduce yourself. I don't believe I've had the pleasure. (We won't be in the campgrounds.) Since you don't show your face around here—and I do—it's up to you. But, being a procrastinator, maybe you should wait...

SWFF is unique in that they have split their camp ground up.  There is a general camp area where anyone and everyone is allowed to setup a tent.  There is a bon fire area here and in some cases plenty of room for small tent trailers.

Along with the open general camping is the reserved group camping.  This area has been set aside for established groups.  They are allowed to camp in the same spot each season as long as they maintain their area and keep a certain number of campers in their area.  It is for this last reason that you will see some groups petitioning people to come camp with them.  They need the numbers (o:

Yeh, but I hear the campgrounds manager is a real pain-in-posterior individual, never giving folks a break, ever demanding, a real dictator.

Okay, meds kicking in.

I did see you from a distance last year but wasn't able to get over to you.  I will most definitely make the effort to get over to you this year if I get the chance to make it.
For reference, I look a bit like the guy in this picture

And we wouldn't have it any other way.  We definitely appreciate all of your hard work Mike.  Especially putting up with us snotty, whiney campers (o:

I don't recall what is was we were doing but we were heading in the opposite direction.  I think you were down by the blacksmith at the main gate and we were over by the chapel.

Adding 2 of Nicole's friends to my group for opening. May also be adding my friend Ashley, though it's not a definite yet. Not sure if she's ever gone before but her aunt works at sherwood. Hopefully I can convince her to tag along!!

Thanks to a lot of craptastic stuff that didn't go as I wished to this weekend I didn't get to hang around at Sherwood during the day like I wanted to. Pretty much had to leave almost as soon as I put my tent up. Spoke to a grand total of two people (which that was at least one good thing but there were so many others I wanted to at least see). The rest of the weekend stayed pretty much at that level of craptastic, nothing whatsoever went the way I wanted.
And since I screwed up on dates when letting my Love know what weekends to take off so I don't even know if I will be out for opening just yet.
I swear I am supposed to have good kharma built up but... sheesh... this just isn't my year.
ok ok... done whining...
I will see you all when I can!
If nothing else I know (well, hope at least) that I will be there my bday weekend the 25th. I only get one bday every four years and I really hope this is a good one. Also, I will have finished my last class for my masters the week before and will want to blow off a serious amount of steam.

*at least I still have my rum*

Hope I get to see you opening, Teach. Didn't actually meet you last year, but I saw you. At that time, I was a new kid on the forum and was still a bit shy. Sherwood is just too far to make more than one trip a season, so that's going to be our only time down.  Things will get better...  :)  Have a rum.
