*YEAH!!!  Beautiful things coming to ALABAMA!!!!    We need more Renn stuff down here!  I am so much the loner in this state!   Oh I do hope I bump into this Jack!  Super!
*And sealion that little girl will surely be the belle in that lovely green.    Beautiful work.

I finally got one done.  The first time it was tried on was the morning of faire at TNRF.  But he really seemed to like it and was stopped over and over for pics.  The whole outfit still has 2 more pieces.  The long trained red silk robe (sleeveless) and the white lace over robe for different occasions.   But here is my Cardinal!   It was sooo hot he wore it over shorts and a T.    (We will fix that too when weather permits)

I love sewing for men!

Sealion - adorable stuff!
Amy - awesome stuff! (adorable didn't seem to fit a Cardinal...) :)

DonaCatalina

It looks great.
I'm sure wearing shorts and a t under it made it a little warmer.  ;D

Ahhh Yes  Lady K..     I am all about the Borgias!   I love me some Cardinal!!!!!  I will just continue to keep guilding my lily!  Gonna give the Baretta a second shot.   It needs to be a scosh larger up top, and now he wants the brocade red trim added too.       pretty men make me happy!

By yourself!? How selfish a claim is this M'Lady, as I have the responsibility of keeping the Saracen at bay along your Eastern borders!!  :o ;)

Your Cardinal? I am new to this religion where one seems to take ownership of a Church official, perhaps as Christopher Lee (Lucas de Beaumanoir) did in Ivanhoe, I must needs make a visit to OUR Northern estates to see if there is a spreading of something terrible. ??? ::)

I'm still looking for a 12th century cappa/clausa in white, perhaps if the price is right, you can seek remission of your sins through hard work and the depositing of Templar bank funds into your possession... ;D

Other than that....the work is awesome!!!

amy

my work here is done.... to lure the Warrior Monk into the sewing forums!

So my good Sir we will take up this conversation elsewhere so that I may best learn from your great wisdom about the care and maintenance of a Catholic Cardinal!

Amy, that is made of win. Wow!! Did you post about it in progress? What's it all made of? (It sort of looks like velveteen, maybe?) Did you use a pattern? Etc!

amy

No, sorry Gem  I didn't post about the project because I am ashamed to say I put it together in 2 nights...    It is 100% silk dupioni fabric which is absolutely luscious red and the cappa or mozetta is red cotton velveteen.   It is piped in red and gold with brass buttons (from stash)  The cape is reversible to the matching silk.  The Biretta is felt with velvet finish fabric and light boning, but like I said I want to make that over a bit lager.   I totally cheated and used the Butterick priest robe pattern which worked out perfectly.   It has 3 lovely nice big pleats in the back for fullness and 2 huge pockets which hang in the back along with slashes at the sides to access his "interior garments". There really is a bunch more pieces I can add and I will be continuing to trim and decorate as time allows.  It really did stand out brightly in a crowd at the fest!
Thanks all for the kind words!

Amy, hearing you proclaim how "easy" (all things are comparable...) just makes it that more awesome to me! It really is outstanding!

LadyStitch

This is something I whipped up this week.  It is all 100% cotton mid weight twill, faced but unlined.  The customer wanted to do the hand embroidry and trims herself.  I did get the buttons for her but she wanted to put the buttons on herself.  She ordered it to be left open at the front. Due to her time & money  crunch (she needed it in a week) She didn't want to deal with getting a custom fit pattern, so this is per the pattern but I think it turned out rather nice.  It just made me twitch that i couldn't put trim and stuff on it.  :(

Otherwise i am pleased with it.  ;D
It is kind of strange watching your personal history become costume.

amy

it looks terrific!   Well done.. but i do agree it looks naked!   I love the lil standing collar!!

amy

A good shot of the "fantasy" Italian gown was posted on FB.   It is one on which you all contributed.  I did leave it plain.  No sleeves only because they were not done yet and it was 97 degrees outside.   Not the right hat yet either.   It is a jumper that laces on both sides and is open from the waist to ground with the chemise underneath exposed.   Its like wearing jammies after 2 days in Elizabethan!

Thank you Derek for the photo.
