The castle of Chera, or Xera, is located in the province of Valencia, Spain.

The castle is of Moorish origigin and the evidence suggests that it was built by the Almoravids in the early twelfth century.

Lihtenberk Castle is a castle ruin located in the municipality of Smartno pri Litiji in central Slovenia, directly adjacent to the later Bogensperk Castle.

The Lihtenberk castle first appears in written sources in 1223, in the form of a mention of its then-owner, Aquileian ministerialis Albert de Lihtenberca; the knights von Lichtenberg had taken the castle from the knights Andes, and they from the knights Višjegorski.
In its current form, the Bogensperk castle was likely begun by the noble house of Wagen as a replacement for Boltežar Wagen's nearby Castle Lihtenberk, already in disrepair and severely damaged by a major earthquake in 1511.

Münchenstein Castle is a landmark above the village centre of Münchenstein, in the canton of Basel-Land in Switzerland.

Around the year 1260, the up-rising cavalier family Münch acquired the village on the hills adjacent to the river Birs and established their estate there. The exact dates of the castle erection remains unclear, but most likely building began in the time between 1260 and 1270.

Burgdorf Castle is a castle in the municipality of Burgdorf in the canton of Bern in Switzerland.

During the High Middle Ages the land that would become Burgdorf was owned by the Kingdom of Burgundy and then after 1080 by the Dukes of Zähringen. Either the kings or the dukes built a castle on the left bank of the Emme river, this castle was first mentioned in 1080 as castellum Bertoldi ducis.

The Castle of Gruyères , located in the medieval town of Gruyères, Fribourg, is one of the most famous in Switzerland.

The building was built between 1270 and 1282, following the typical square plan of the fortifications in Savoy. It was the property of the Counts of Gruyères until the bankruptcy of the Count Michel in 1554.

The Citadel of Damascus is a large medieval fortified palace and castle in Damascus, Syria.

The location of the current citadel was first fortified in 1076 by the Turkman warlord Atsiz bin Uvak, although it is possible but not proven that a citadel stood on this place in the Hellenistic and Roman periods. Saladin's brother Al-Adil rebuilt the citadel completely between 1203 and 1216 in response to the re-development of the counterweight trebuchet.

The Citadel of Aleppo is a large medieval fortification in the centre of the old city of Aleppo, northern Syria.

It is considered to be one of the oldest and largest castles in the world. The recently-discovered Temple of the Ancient Storm God, Hadad, dates use of the hill to the middle of the 3rd millennium BC, as referenced in Cuneiform texts from Ebla and Mari.

Svirz Castle is a fortification in Svirzh, Lviv Oblast, Ukraine.

Holt Castle is also a medieval castle in the town of Holt, Wrexham Borough, Wales.

Holt castle was started by Edward I on a sandstone base next to the River Dee soon after the invasion of North Wales in 1277. In the medieval period, the five-towered fortress was actually known as Castrum Leonis or Castle Lyons because it had a Lion motif carved into the stonework above its main gate.

Burg Liebenfels is a castle in Carinthia, Austria.

Liebenfels was named in 1312 as Liewenvelse first documented. Between 1484 and 1490, the castle of the Hungarians conquered, occupied, and it was partially destroyed.

Burg Petersberg is a castle in Friesach, Carinthia, Austria.

Liahavichy Castle was a fortified Belarus castle.

A small fortification stood on the site from the eleventh century. The last castle was built at the end of the 16th century by the hetman Yan Eromin of the Hadkevich family, on a hill in the Belarus town of the same name. Excavations have recovered some artifacts.

Klenovnik is the possibly biggest Croatian castle.

Michalovice is a castle located about 3 km northwest of the town of Mladá Boleslav, in Central Bohemia, Czech Republic.

Castra Praetorium Mobene, now known as Qasr Bshir/Bashir/Bushir is located in the desert of Jordan.
