Hi

I attend the PA Ren Faire dressed as a character that I call a wetland elf.  I don't have any pics on the computer I'm using right now, but my outfits consists of:

Leather bodice/corset in brown with black trim
Short black skirt with a blue and green long petal skirt over top
Cream colored gauze chemise
Green cloak
Carved walking staff with lilypads glued around the bottom
Blown glass pendant of a frog on a lilypad (the inspiration for the entire outfit)

Normally I would wear theses black ankle boots, but they are kinda falling apart, so I am looking for a replacement.  Which of the following do you think would look best and what color:

1) http://oldesoles.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3&products_id=6

2) http://oldesoles.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3&products_id=7

3) http://oldesoles.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=55

I am also open to other suggestions if you have them.

Thanks!!

A couple of weeks ago, my friend bought a pair of Celtic Slippers from Native Earth.  She loves them so much, she went back this weekend and bought another pair in a different color.  She plans to wear them for every day shoes, because she says they are so comfortable.

Another friend bought a pair of ghillies from the same vendor, and he loves them.  He is diabetic & has to watch his feet, but these shoes are great for him.

I don't own any, but both friends rate them highly.

I highly recommend Native Earth as well, since Heart & Sole is no longer.  Native Earth people are wonderful and they make great footwear!

From the way you describe your outfit, I would say either the plain slipper or the boots.  The Celtic design doesn't seem to fit your description.  For color, you are lucky because there are so many colors in your outfit.  I would go with basic black that way it still will match anything you wear without limitations.  We want to see pics!

I think the boots would be hilarious and fun for a wetland character--but maybe more clunky than the rest of your costume? Do they come in green?

Peaches McGee

Hi Gem

I can have the boots made in green.  The boots that I wear now actually have a pattern of leaves on the soles, so when I have my feet up I get comments on those.

I vote for the boots.  You need them in the wetlands.

I have purchased several pair of shoes from garbtheworld.com.  My son has a pair of these:  http://www.garbtheworld.com/instock/catalog.php?item=1345&catid=Shoes
Viking, yes, but they may be good for your character.  They also take leather dye nicely.  AND, you can add some insoles.  I have a pair of these:  http://www.garbtheworld.com//instock/catalog.php?item=1022&catid=Shoes but they sure take on rocks!
The thing about these shoes is that they have leather soles, and not rubber.

I finally talked Don Juan into some boots. Now he loves them. He says they are easier to walk in on the uneven Faire terrain.
