Which is more likely to get me burned at the stake?

Darts or princess seams? After sewing in 48 eyelets, I've realized that the bodice of my dress is a tad too large in the underbust area (that is to say, it would look great if I were a cylinder), and I'm planning to wear this tomorrow so drafting a new pattern and starting over is out for now. It laces at the sides, so if I was just willing to cut off all my eyelets, take it in, and then sew them all in again, that would work, but as I said, poor timing...

Temporary solution? Can you wear a good bra with it tomorrow, and then take your proper structural alterations later?

Another idea--what about making a couple more eyelets farther in just where it's too large on you, so you can lace it a little tighter there?

Oh, it's getting worn with a bra regardless. This is my first time doing ren garb (as opposed to basic anime costumes), and I'm not even attempting anything as structured as something supportive would need to be.

A couple extra eyelets, though - that might work! I'll have to double-check the placing, but yes, I could definitely see that... Right, back to work! Man, why didn't I think to start this think in January?

It wouldn't have mattered! You'd still be working on it now. I find I get just as much done DURING fair season as I do if I get started earlier. It's something with the space-time continuum--work expands or contracts to fill the allotted time you have to do it in.

I wore a slightly-too-large bodice myself today, and as I was lacing myself into it, a third (and probably better) solution occurred to me--if you spiral-lace the sides, you can lace them so they overlap instead of meet edge-to-edge, and snug up the fit quite a lot that way.
