YES!!! had huge groups of patrons about them.  Gypsy dancing too.  Fantastic bulgarian and gypsy folk.  Likewise, if you want a taste of them, they are playing this Friday night at Sherwood's pub beginning at 9pm.  Free of course...the intro into our gathering this weekend.

Diddo on "that is really disappointing".  I was looking forward to seeing them myself.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't they based in Houston?  A very popular band that is "local", first TRF didn't get them back and now SWFF didn't get them back either.  The faire, the band, and the fans all lose out.

While they are from San Antonio, I believe that Jenny & Kelly (the two sisters in Circa Paleo) are currently living in the Los Angeles, CA area (judging from their Facebook pages).
Jenny stated on FB that she is actively look for a house in LA.

It happens when musicians try to make a living wage.  If you've not been there, don't be hard on them.

Best of luck to Jenny, and anybody else trying to expand careers.

As for missing Circa Paleo, yes; but you never know what's coming up next.  That's part of the charm of renfaires, and in particular Sherwood.  There's always something new (or old but new to me).

we are extremely excited about our entertainment lineup for 1192.  stay tuned.  we also have a new mud show this season and the washing well wenches will be performing the last four weekends.  we have no doubt our entertainment will be enjoyable and meet and exceed your expectations.

Awesome to hear that the Washing Well Wenches will be in the village.  I enjoyed them back when they did TRF.

Just my two cents:

What I think makes bands like Circa Paleo and Tartanic different from other bands I've seen perform at faires is that they don't just stand there and perform. There is a wonderful interaction with the crowd that turns the performance into a party. I would love to see more bands do this. Also, I know I might be the minority, but as much as I admire historical accuracy and historical reenactment, I do appreciate modern tunes with a old world twist if only because it's something I recognize immediately. The Last of the Mohicans Theme and White Rabbit first drew my attention to Circa Paleo from across the faire. I lingered longer and fell in love with their other stuff.

So, cent 1: more dance-y, party, fun-times
Cent 2: at least one little familiar modern piece

ARTHUR GREENLEAF HOLMES!!!
Sorry, I hadn't noticed he was added until today. I love that character. I've told him before that I missed Scratch the Beggar but with Arthur as the replacement... I am well pleased.

Klaus Hamlin is back! yes!

I remember one weekend at Sherwood last year it was pouring down rain. I was walking with someone in our clan and as we came down from the hill around the Joust area I saw Klaus playing on his stage. Since it was raining there was - no one - on his benches, but you could not tell from his playing. He was clearly pouring himself into his music and did not rightly care that no one was in front of him. I stopped, listened for a few minutes, and tipped him very graciously.

I can't wait to see him again - his music was beautiful, and his spirit even more so.
