Lady Rosalind

Pleating is finally finished! I am ready to hem starting tomorrow night!

I'm beginning to feel like I might actually finish in time for opening weekend at Des Moines!

Looks fantastic!  I love the forepart pattern; that reminds me of a portrait that I'm now going to have to go looking for....The bodice is done?

I just had hubby pin up the hem of my over skirt last night since my dummy is being difficult right now.   I still need to hem the petticoat  which I don't need him for, and the forepart;  now that I'm through with pearling it (thank goodness).
  Will you be using guards?

Rowan, I bet you're thinking of this portrait:D

Lady R, that's looking magnificent!!!

I am four grommets, a lint roller, and a good pressing away from a new bodice!! Woo-hoo!

Yep,  that's the portrait I was thinking of... Lady R has serious fabric finding skillz!

Gem-Love that  color blue-The white edging sets it off. ;D

Thanks, Rowan.  It's actually black and tan (you might be able to see the colors better in this earlier WIP shot), but I agree with you--I *adore* this fabric. I had coveted it for years at JoAnn, but it's like $36/yard!  But last year, thanks to the stars aligning + a 40% off home dec sale + additional 15% off total purchase + a birthday gift card... it was finally mine! LOL This is actually really fast for me to use up a stash fabric. The other side--the stripe--has been in my closet for about ten years.  ??? The binding is a nice buckskin color microsuede from Hobby Lobby.

(The funny thing is that I actually bought it for an extra forepart and sleeves for a gown based on that portrait. That's what this is going to be for. Eventually. When I finish the embroidery.)

I guess It's time to post some photos of my progress.

The pinkish fabric is actually a salmon color that in person is very close to the metallic copper embroidery. For some reason the photo doesn't quite do it justice even after I drug it outside for natural light.
The peplum skirt is about 15 inches long and hasn't been fully beaded.
I am using translucent green glass beads that have a slight opalescent finish.

I love those beads!  Are you drafting a pattern for the gown?

I had a fitting for my Valkyrie armor today!

It looks AMAZING--anodized aluminum scale mail in frosted gold, champagne, shiny gold, and bronze--I felt like a mermaid!!  But Milord remarked politely about the, er, drapiness of the fit compared to the more "uplifting" fit of most of my bodices. It definitely makes me look like my assets are sinking! (They're not; you can see it has the same effect on the smaller, perkier dress form, too!  ;)) I'm not really sure what to do about it--I do have a Very Serious Longline Bra I could wear, and will try that for the next fitting... but if anyone has other suggestions, I would love to hear them! I can't really picture wearing it over any of my bodices, though...?  :-\

ETA: here's the fabric (metallic gold rayon) for the rest of the ensemble:

Gem, a medieval bra, perhaps?  That way, you can use it with other medieval outfits.   :D

Rowan MacD

I want to see it so badly, but I have to wait till I get home from work in 2 hours. Some picture hosting service do not play well with the company server.   Gah.

I did a Frankenpattern between the Tudor Tailor and a couple of Simplicity patterns (4508 and 2589) to get the look I wanted. If you look at the gallery photos, the pieces were already cut out before I started the detail work.
The rough idea sketh is in the Sleeve Ideas thread.
