Milord has a shirt with cuffs like this:

I'm making him a new shirt from Simplicity 4059, which just has small bands for cuffs, and he'd like the longer, fitted ones on the new version. I don't think it will be a problem to copy those, but I am wondering, how much shorter (if any) would you make the sleeves to compensate for the additional length of the cuff? Or would you just go with the original sleeve length and enjoy the extra puffiness?

Here is Milord in his first 4059 shirt:

You can see that the sleeves aren't egregiously puffy as they are; nor do they seem excessively long. I may be able to get away with just adding the longer cuffs to the existing sleeves.

Opinions?

We should have talked about this in person today!  I fit shirt sleeves by having the individual put the shirt on, then extend their arms in front of them, arms parallel to the ground, and mark the sleeve length at the tips of the fingers.  Then cuff on the end of that, using that length with no extra for seam allowance.  I have found that gives sufficient ease and puffiness in the sleeves.  SO, using that idea, I would deduct the cuff length from the fingertip length to give the same ease and puffiness.

That's what I would do.

In doing the longer cuffs remember to make them like gaultles (Ie. curved NOT straight)  Many a time have I had an apprentice make long cuffs and not understand why they fit great at one end and terrible at the other.  They need to be shaped.
It is kind of strange watching your personal history become costume.

Take as much off the sleeve length as you add to the cuff to retain the same over all sleeve length...  And yes, the sleeve pattern needs to look like about a third of a ring doughnut!  Curve both the upper edge and the wrist edge.
