If you DO... it had better be one I haven't read, yet!!!  :P  heheh

I'm beginning to think you only write the first page or so of a chapter, and then just wander off to change a diaper or scrape poo off of something... and never finish the story!

I thought you said you were going to have books available for sale at SCC.  Where is my copy?  Ordering info, please...

Speaking of, my wife has just finished her space opera.  She is in the editing stages now.  When she has it ready I'll let y'all know.

Yep, looking forward to both books. My better half is in re-edit stages on her fantasy novel. They told her 600+ pages was too long and neede to be split.

I'm actually a fan of longer books, and 1000-1200 seems like the perfect length for me.  I guess publishers are looking at printing costs vs. paperback book price, though... which is such a shame.  Although, if it's more of a Young Adult style I suppose I can understand wanting a shorter format, because the attention span for some younger folk can be kind of short, and they also LOVE series books.  My kidlet, of course, prefers both long AND series books... so if any of you want to use her as a test market just send those manuscripts on over!  :D  Oh, and uhhh... I suppose I could help you out with that, also.  Y'know, purely as a favor, of course!  ;)  heheh

It's more a matter of Return on Investment in many cases. If an author produces a book and the publisher knows they have several more in the can or in the works, they will publish the book even if it is much longer than normal. If it sells well, they will option the other books, usually for a higher advance and overall payout, as they know they will make money. However, if the author doesn't have anything concrete in the works, the publisher may ask them to divie a longer book up into two to maximize the RoI they get from that one work. Even if sales are meh, they will still have a second product to put out on shelves that is already paid for.

That's pretty much word for word what Linda was told.

Need leatherworker advice... I am rebuilding my barbarian armour, as the current set is over 20 years old. I am loosely basing it off of the two middle sets of armour in the picture below, with fur trim on the shoulders. I want to do a fur "kilt" from the broadbelt, so ignore everything below the belt (no snickers... I hear you giggling out there, shushit you!  ;D  ). The one on the right out of the middle two is more what I am thinking, but with the belt from the left-hand one. So, leatherworkers! Need an idea of what kinds of materials I will need for this. Found sources, just need to know what to order. The bronze and iron fittings are an entirely different nightmare I'll have to figure out as all I have are some belt fittings and the bronze centerpiece, so focus on the leather (and fur suggestions if possible).
