Love the ruffs!  Are those satin oversleeves?

Silk taffeta, and also lined with silk taffeta.

Lady K, your gown is stunning, as all of your work is  ;D

It's nothing like the gorgeous gowns you all make, but it's a start.  I actually completed an H/A-ish kirtle and caul!  This was my first real foray into the garbing world beyond a cloak.  I learned SO much, and definitely could not have done it without all the wonderful information from you lovely ladies and gentlemen here on the boards.  It has some issues, but hey, that's how I learn  :)  Next one will be even better.

Looks great to me Serenity!  :)

Starting with something simple leads to more exciting things. Great job, Serenity.

Serenity, I like that color on you!  What is the plaid at your hip?

Serenity

Thank you all  :D

Butch - the plaid swatch is of the "Clan McLumpy", a friend of ours here at MDRF that started the Maryland Renaissance Festival Friends of Faire.

Oh, how pretty!  Congratulations on the debut of your very first creation, Serenity!  And I agree with the others... that color is stunning on you!

It has been a busy several months with wedding, Prom, and miscellaneous alterations. I have man aged to squeeze in some sewing projects as well..

A Wizard for a Mayo Clinic Gastro-Interologist. A Doctor who has been playing dress us since he was a kld.

A Steampunk ensemble for my eldest Granddaughter that was her Birthday present. She will be wearing this next week at a SciFi Convention we will be attending together. This will be her 3rd year, my 10th.

A new Victorian Apron to wear with a Blouse I have cut out and a new corset I ordered off the internet for next week. I have lost 54 pounds now and I have little that fits. Later on I plan to make a new  Victorian Corset in the same Taffeta as the Apron for a more formal Victorian/Goth/Steampunk look.

Oh, how fun!  They are ALL wonderful, and the quality of your work always stands out, LadyK!

How absolutely lovely to be able to share a passion with at least one of your grandchildren!  I know of few (if, indeed, ANY) other hobbies/obsessions/entertainments that are so well able to bridge the ever increasing generational disconnection that exists everywhere today... but costuming brings all ages together in fun and creativity, and it's always a treat to see families together at Cons and other events!  :)

ITA! There was one really fun moment at Planet Comicon this year... we kept seeing the guy who cosplays Barbossa at Fair, wandering the con hall with his wife and daughter. We've "known" them for ages, but not to stop and chat. Well, his wife kept stopping by my booth and relating other costumes spotted in the lanes. Eventually she brought her daughter by... who ended up buying all my books!  :D Costumes are an excellent bridge!

The SciFi/Fantasy convention I go to is called CONvergence. It is a 4 day Con held  at the Doubletree in Bloomimgton, MN during the 4th of July holiday. 4 days of Panels, a costume Mascqurade, talented people in Cosplay costumes,  cool movies at Cinema Rex, guests, and so forth.

Each year, there is a theme. This year's theme is A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM.. Last year was British Invasion. Because I volunteer to help out in Registration, I play at night. I will also dress up on Friday and Saturday nights.www.convergence-con.org Check it out. Last year's attendence was just over 6,000.

I brought my Granddaughter in 2012 when the theme was WONDER WOMEN and she was hooked ever since.

(sigh)  We're missing our small local Con this weekend, unfortunately...  :(  It's called SoonerCon, and it's always fun, even though it's not at all huge like CONvergence, or any of the other large ones.  We have themes every year, also... and this year's theme is Darkness Falls.  We were supposed to have passes waiting for us, but apparent;y there was a mix-up, and we'll be sitting home this year, waiting to see the photos on the Book of Faces, instead.

My daughter and I have gone every year for the past several... and we're both missing it.  Not really missing the vending, though, since it keeps us from being able to do anything else!

Technically, it still needs eyelets on the side openings but, other than that, it's done.  I might add sleeves later on, however, I don't need them right away.  I have three more outfits to finish by the end of the month, so sleeves are pretty low on priority.  I can do those at Pennsic, if need be.

Vending at a con is rough - you sit and watch all the fun stuff go by but you can't leave your table!  We've started taking turns manning the table so we each have time to go to panels, shop, etc - makes it more fun for each of us.
