Might be a bit of a chilly faire season this year, plan accordingly  ;D

Soooo close!  I'm definitely getting a bit Renvious, now...

We're not going to make it down this year.  The CV joints are going out on the van, and they have to be fixed before too much longer, if I expect to be driving ANYwhere at all, for much longer.  Still living vicariously through all of you, though... and preparing for spring!

Well, depending on where you are and what you do --- Boeing was just awarded a large part of the contract for the next NASA Crew Capsule program.  Most of the work will be done in cities other than Houston, but there will probably be some jobs added here as well.

Take Care,

I know your pain Daughter just lost her job this past friday so looks like her and the grandson will be living with us longer. she is so worried as she has a new car loan, student loans and othe bills.

Breandan

Tell her to get her student loans consolidated and in deferment ASAP so that they will not accrue any further backlog and they are put together into one loan so that she's only dealing with one interest payment. The jobs market it urban regions of Texas is tighter than usual, but compared to other parts of the country we're booming, so chin up to everyone out there looking, and good luck :)

Thank God for the word "NO!"  Looking at the results map, I'm happy my people used common sense and voted for the Union.

Fraiser, My Friend, I would have thought you would support Scottish Independence.  A chance to get away from those fie Englishmen.  Personally, being one of the fie Englishmen, I am pleased with the vote.  I bet Sean Connery is not pleased...

Can you imagine the affect independence would have had on the price fo Scotch?

My heart screamed "YES!!" but my head simply said "no".  :-\ Now is not the right time for Scotland to break away.  This move could've caused a world wide economic crash...think about another "Greece" in a year or so.  The English would've closed it's military bases, adding to the unemployment...the Pound would've crashed...there would've been a run on the banks...amoungst other chaos that a "yes" vote would cause.  Their "Leader" is a screaming liberal...a bully and a rabble rouser.  They had ZERO plans as far as a banking system...a military...how to support themselves.  People quoted " But all that oil!".  "All that oil" has been in a production decline over the last ten years...and what about all the debt the Scottish end of the UK has?  They wouldn't be able to walk away from it...

No was the best/smartest thing that could've been done.  If you look at the map of who voted for what, the Highlands as well as 95% of the rest of the landmass said "NO!".  Only Glasgow and Dundee solidly voted YES.  The English made the right deal...more control to Alba over it's money and welfare.  Now it will be pretty much "Home Rule" without the drawbacks of going it alone.

At the end of the day, I'm still a Scot...Heart and Soul.  My Spirit runs through the heather, on a hillside, in the Highlands, Whisky runs in my blood and the smell of burning peat fills my nose with every breath...nothing will ever change that. :)

Fraser,
I think you said it best by saying your heart was saying "Yes", but your head just said "No".  From what I've read, that pretty much sums up how that vote played out.  Most felt independence and freedom from the English were long long overdue.  Their hearts screemed that, much like Mel Gibson did as they were cutting him up in Braveheart.  But in the end, those that throught thru the entire process came to the conclusion that Scottland would loose more then it gained by going indepentent.  The final tally was 55% voted using their head as their guide, and 45% voted using their heart.
