We want to have a different Garb topic in each Faire Magazine.  Not too detailed, like a start-to-finish project, but more like a few pages of how to perform a certain sewing operation. . .  shortcuts that could be useful . . .  and unique items of garb and what they're for and how to get them/make them.

The best way, m'thinks, is to gather the information from those that know. . .i.e. YOU!

Any ideas on subject matter?

Are you paying your contributors?  What rights do you buy?  Do you offer a byline?  Kill fee?

I'm sure you'll get lots of help and ideas for forum members, but the contributors should know what kinds of protection they will receive for their intellectual property.

Good luck!

As a reader (as opposed to a writer since I have very little garb experience), I'd love to see a series of articles on how to make basic garb components.  Like, this is how to make a basic bodice, this is how to make a basic doublet, etc...

You might consider alternating: Basic/Beginner - Intermediate and Advanced tips and topics to cover a wider range of reader's needs and/or interests.

for beginners you could go back through the forum and see what topics come up again and again and again such as: Grommets - pro or con and alternatives, Fit of bodices/doublets,  fabric selections - pro or con, how to change Good Will finds into garb, etc.

If you do find anything in the forum in that you would like to use, make sure you give credit to the original authors and ask their permission.

I would love to see something about basic CHILDRENS garb! especially BOYS!! There is a ton of stuff out there for girls but very little for boys!

I dont care if you take this idea and run with it. I just would love to see it written out!

There is actually a lot more for boys than you think. hen the fair was going to open in Alvin, I had planned to have a children's booth. I made kilts, shirts, fancier nobles jackets, and a pirate coat. I recommend buying girls leggings at Walmart for their costumes. There really are quite a few things you can do for boys. If you want more info , e-mail me or PM me.
