Lacing rings: where do you get them?

My local JoAnn only had the white plastic rings in stock in the drapery hardware section.  I think they'll work fine for sleeve attachment, where they're hidden--but for  actual closure on a gown, I'd like metal.

Is this something I'm going to have to order?

I have used the loop part of a toggle clasp from the jewelry-making department.  I got a bunch of fairly sturdy ones, and sewed them onto the outside of the bodice.  They've held up just fine so far, but my lacing isn't under a lot of strain and I've only worn the bodice a few times.

Apparently only the larger Joann stores carry the metal rings. The small store nearest my home doesn't have them but the larger store across town does. I didn't discover that until after I used decorative toggle rings on my bodice. Those ring are under A LOT of stress and have held up just fine.

I bought a large bag of them at Hancocks and I've seen them there recently.  You can also enter them into google and find them for sale at a lot of various sewing supply stores.

the last time I couldn't find the little brass ones and I had to finish a gown asap, I went to Michaels and bought the tiniest key rings they had, they have worked well, but I still like the brass ones better.

Here is where I get mine.  I always buy 100 at a time because I use them for everything!  Enjoy!

For those of you who have found the brass rings at JoAnns and Handcock, what department did you find them in?  I have checked both and have never seen them.  Perhaps I'm not looking in the right place??

At the Mid-River's Mall area (St Louis) Hancocks they are part of the drapery department and kept hidden behind the cutting table due "sticky fingers" issues they have had in the past.  They consider them to be rings for Roman shades not lacing rings - however several of the employees have been "trained" by the St Louis cast and know of thier alternative use.
