You're a true rennie if you say, "I'm going to miss this when the power comes back on" - referring to the oill lamps, candles and tealight lanterns currently lighting your apartment at night.

And if you can put your contact lenses in by just the light of two candle sconces.  (My colleagues thought it amazing that I've been wearing them since the storm.  Lights, we don't need no stinkin' lights!)

When you give your church your entire faire season dates 6 months in advance, so they can schedule for you not to work on the altar the Sundays you will be at faire, including the out of state ones, not just your local faires.

When a few weeks before the faire, you start dreaming about making reconnaissance and dry runs.

And if you were outside doing human chess through that, then you're a bunch of idiots.

Who said that Rennies were smart..... I mean come on the show must go on

Not at the risk of extreme personal injury.

Had it been me on the safety committe, I'd have had the faire shut down that day.

Safety is always a number one priority.

For your information, the faire was closed shortly after the match was finished. The committee stepped in and said that it had reached unsafe levels and the Ohio Renaissance Festival (for the first time in nearly 10 years) refunded tickets.

We were safe. And more than that, we were enjoying the weather, in true Rennie fashion. The flying hoop skirts were hilarious, and entertaining. All for the good of the show, right?

The good of the show is one thing. The good of the patrons, who pay for the show by buying tickets, is something else.

So they refunded tickets. The fact of the matter is that with the show being shut down due to unsafe levels with the weather does not change the fact that the patrons now have to drive home in said "unsafe conditions."

Closing the faire that day would have eliminated the prospect of the patrons driving in those conditions.

Now let's return to the thread topic and stop derailing.

-you want your wedding to be at the faire, and will deal with not having some of your family members there just to have it at the faire

-you start planning your character and garb as soon as this faire season is over for next faire season

-you decide to wear your bodice/corset with regular clothes during off season just to get the feeling of the renaissance again

-one of the primary reasons to have children is so that the whole family can dress alike in renaissance garb
