Thankfully, Dallas is a good 4 hours away from the greater Plantersville area.

That said I hope someone in Dallas puts a stop to such blatant fraud.

The good news is, you won't find anything like this around TRF.  There is plenty of parking available and it is free (unless you are camping).

And really no other place to park but the TRF grounds, unless you want to hike cross-country through the woods (not a bright idea). Wow, I feel for those folks though, I'd be incensed.

I've seen some of these scam artists at work, as I've worked parking lots around Fair Park before.

Most of the people that have homes and businesses in the immediate vicinity apply for parking permits from the city. It's something like $25 per year to run public parking on your property. Many of the families that live near Fair Park make money by letting State Fair patrons park in their driveways and yards.

But there are some people who do not get permits, and who charge for parking on lots they don't have the parking rights to. I saw a crew of guys park 20 or so cars on a church parking lot, only to have the deacon of the church show up later in the day wondering where all the cars came from. He was going to have them towed for parking on private property (there were permanent signs saying "Church parking only" or something like that), but I don't remember if he really did that or not.

So basically, if you're to the State Fair of Texas and parking in a place that doesn't look like a real parking lot, ask the "attendant" if you can see their permit. They are supposed to have a sign as well as a credit-card-sized "license" from the city.

Or just park at one of the Dart Park & Rides and take the shuttle from Pearl Station.
