I mainly ended up with a Canon because I had a Canon Rebel 2000 film camera for a black & white photography class I took in college.  Since I had a couple lenses already it was the way to go.  Nikon makes a good camera too.  Although as far as I know they don't have any white lenses that say "Look at me!" that I am aware of.  :)

Good points, Valt.  I have a good friend who is about to trade his Nikon D50 for a Canon 40D (or maybe the new 50D).  Lens availablity is the main reason (he has several friends and relatives who will swap lenses with him whenever they attend different events).  Nikon also makes a wonderful camera ... I've never gotten into that "my brand is better than your brand" thing ... it's kinda silly when you look at the quality of equipment available today.   :)

I'll apologize, there weren't any of the real photographers there on Saturday for the group photo. I thought I'd try my hand at it but it didn't go as well as I'd like as I do have the appropriate lenses to take the shots. The ones I took really didn't turn out as I would have liked them so sorry everyone.  :-\

Here a few from the weekend-
