What a wonderful idea!  I'm for it.  I do feel there are some things we would do well to consider.  (1) we have a number of children in our camp; (2) many of us have invested a considerable sum into our camping gear; (2) the music will bring lots of non-clan folks into and around the camp; (3) not all of those folks will be well behaved.  Thus I propose roping off an area across the road from our camp -- say between the trees of row 8 or 9 -- with clear areas for the musicians and the crowd, as well as a clear entrance to that area where we can take turns "manning" the cash hat as folks come and go (and thereby making it obvious that entry kind of "requires" some sort of cash donation.  JP the Yard Troll and I kind of tossed that idea around and he said he had some strong black roping that would do the trick for marking the area.  Also, we would do well to mark our own camping area better.  That way we can invite the band back for food and drinks post-performance without inviting the whole crowd as well.  any thoughts?

Ok, I have given this some thought....

We can't set up across the road, as it is a parking area and is not ideal. I'm almost certain that "das coppers" will kindly ask us to move along. I know that we have kids in our camp, and of course we are needing to protect our best interests. On the other hand, I believe that we are capable of keeping our things and each other fairly safe. I am expecting that others from neighboring clans will be in attendance, I have already spoken to some of the Brigahallas about contributing as well.

I don't see this as a large "concert" per se, more like an unplugged gathering of musicians. Not many will know what's going on, unless they're in on it.

Marking off our own space a little better is a wondrous idea, but the idea of marking off "band space" and basically charging a cover to get in is a little much in my opinion. Sure, they're coming to perform for our camp, but I think that we could tell who the wrong sort are, and politely tell them that it's a private party and to move along.

There are to be 2 45 minute sets, with a break in between. Either we could have dinner beforehand OR serve our clan during the break. It would probably be better if we had dinner beforehand.

We have had my brother, as well as The Flaming Bonsai (renamed Baby Angel by SafeHaven), and The Yard Troll volunteer for security purposes as well. JIC anyone should inadvertantly cause any trouble. I do not foresee any problems As I can probably have Bull, Boom Boom (from SafeHaven) and Reaver and others from POP to stand by for "body guards/ security" if need be.

Oh you know what... I'll just freeze and trouble makers... LOL

...I don't really see any need for security, borders, ropes, etc.  This is Wine and Alchemy... not Metallica. :o  Sure folks will walk by, hear the music and stop to listen for a bit.  But I don't think this will draw the ne'er do wells away from the cess pool.  We should always be aware of our surroundings and items as it is anyway.  I feel that we all watch out for each other and properties very well too.  I agree we should 'man a hat' for donations, etc.  I agree that dinner should be prior to the first performance.

Now there are a couple of other items that I didn't see being addressed and it may be that Blue has it under control already:

First:  Now that it is dark at 6ish, I see a need for LOTS more tiki torches and other types of lighting to illuminate the area so the musicians can see what they are doing and we can see them.
Second:  Will they provide their own seating?
Third and by all means the most important:  *looking towards Z* What's for dinner? ;D :o ;D

This is Wine and Alchemy we're talking about. I don't see things getting too unruly. We probably will have a few people wander over from the drum circle because we are in such close proximity to it but I know that between the gentlemen we have with us, and several of our good friends near by, we'll be quite alright.  8)

And dont forget, any tips for the cook also are greatly appreciated.  :-*
Still Meggers, just a little more grown up now. :)

We get a few unwanted "guests" in our camp anyway, so no biggie there. But having the fellas (myself included) be a little more on guard wouldn't be bad idea.  Mostly I think our neighbours will think we just have the raido turned up and we will be ok.

I had not posted yet because I thought it was going to be Thursday night. Now that it's Saturday we should be and be able to contribute.
Don't forget to smell the roses, but watch out for the thorns!

I really am excited about Wine and Alchemy.  Leave it to me to be OVERprotective...  Please forgive my somewhat freakish worries.  Just pass me the loki and the chronic anxiety I suffer here in mundanity shall float away on the gentle breezes...  After a few guzzles I'll feel safe and secure in our little nest -- what with Martin and Ace and DS and JP and the Flaming Bonzai and Bret and Count DiAmossi and Zaubon and .... WOW we've got a lot of handsome guys. That in itself tends to draw a crowd....  :D

Hey Blue -- my kids tells me this morning that you called on Monday.  'Course, she neglected to get a phone number or write anything down.  I'm gonna try to ren-mail you my cell number.
