New commercial....

Has anyone seen the new Free Credit Report .com ad? The guy is forced to work at a ren faire because his credit was wrecked from id theft. That's annoying to me. I like working faire. Not because I have to, but because I LIKE it!!!

I find the ad offensive to me and my renfamily....JMO

And we all know why we all work at faire(s)....because we WANT to, not because we have to!

I just wish their songs were a little less dorky....what? They couldn't put a celtic spin on their song for that particular commercial? Come on!

Was a little offended to think that they think being a renfair worker is a job only down on your luck folks can get, which we know is clearly not true...I think it was meant to be light hearted and funny.

I'm going to have to see if its on the web somewhere.  But if it is anything like the otheres.  I am pretty sure I will take offense to this one as well.  I havent had a chance to work at faire, yet.  But hopefully sometime soon I will get that chance.

I saw it wasn't offended but didn't think to was very funny either.  I was more offended by the marrage one.

Eh, I'm not offended. It's worst than most commericals out there though so I doubt we'll see it very often.

Srsly, why decide ahead of time that you are gonna be offended at something?   Doesn't that right there show that "being offended" is a choice?   So, you can choose to accept a little harmless poking at a stereotype (which is what most humor is based on!), or you can choose to take it as a personal affront and get all righteous and offended.

Me, I don't really get much of a payoff from being righteous, and certainly don't enjoy being offended.   So the choice seems pretty easy...

Any press is good press.  I cite the recent movie Role Models.  Most would think that they put garb wearing entertainment in a bad light but I like to think that it lets undiscovered rennies know that there are gatherings and other people like them out there.  Maybe they will gather the strength and courage to seek us out and be merry with us.

Yup, was definitely the worst of the commercials so far.  At least the restaurant one had a halfway decent song.  Its been down hill from there though.

I agree, I used to work in a restaurant when I was younger and wasn't offended by that commercial either. Also Grov is right all press is good press.

I really hate all those commercials simply because they are stupid and annoying.  The one with the bicycles came on the other night and my son started singing it, I put an end to that really quick! 

I don't think a commercial like that is going to determine what people think about Ren Faires though, they are going to think what they want to think anyway...jmho...

The only place he could go and not be judged for his poor credit score is a Ren Faire?! Go us!!

i thought the marriage one was funny, but really bad.... like the guy would have decided not to marry her if he found out she had bad credit?  what kind of love is that?

when i first saw this commercial, it didnt' dawn on me that it was the renfair.... but i didn't laugh one bit... i'm not offended by it, but i think it's a really stupid commercial.

i thought the one where he had to wear the silly costume at the restaurant job was funny however and not offensive to anyone that i could think of.  they need to bring that one back!
