Thanks Tom for the info. I was actually wondering if it was a real-word or term in say construction equipment lingo. But, I had never heard it used before or seen it until on this thread. As you mentioned it has to do with region and who's selling or buyin an excavator. I only knew of the term excavator never would've thought track-hoe.

Don't know if you're serious or not but here it goes. Generally a track hoe (or the more common trackhoe) is synonymous with excavator, think back hoe with tracks instead of wheels. There can be some variation on this by region but in general all of the manufacturers call them excavators. There is a video out there of one climbing a tower that 's kind of neat.
