A brand-new Viking sewing machine!  HUZZAH!!

I'm so excited I have *no idea* what to sew on it, now that it's here! :-\ LOL

(It took me ages to figure out what kind of machine I wanted, but I talked to other Viking owners who love their machines, and I kind of fell in love with this dealership--it's a local quilt shop that has fabulous classes, plus free lifetime lessons with the machine.  The price was exactly what I wanted to spend, even splurging on some extra feet, an eyelet plate, and the walking foot kit.  The walking foot is on order--they sold their last on Christmas Eve--but that's ok; it's going to take me that long to unearth my scrap velvet at the bottom of my fabric closet.)

Milord approves wholeheartedly, particularly because he likes the brand.  "Someone who sews garb *should* have a machine called a Viking," he says.  ;D

Woot!!

Goody

Congrats!

I just knocked my mom's sewing machine from off my table onto the floor with her watching. Wish Santa had brought me a new machine!

Congratulations on the new machine :) I like the name of the brand, too.

Huzzah gem!!!  What a wonderful Santa you have. Have fun making new and exciting things.

Santa forgot about me this year. Did not bother to ask me what was on my list, which wasn't much. :(

Congratulations on the new machine :) I like the name of the brand, too.

The Huqvarna company, who make Husqvarna Viking sewing machines (not to be confused with a North American Viking sewing machine company that also made sewing machines!), has been around for a while.  It started as a cannon foundry in 1689.  The King of Sweden built a weapon factory beside the mighty waterfalls in Huskvarna...  They've been busy with leading edge military and civilian engineering technology ever since.

A few of my gifts can fit into the Renn category :)  A couple english history books, and a kit of ink and implements for calligraphy and illuminating.  Can't wait to start some medieval manuscripts!

Eyelet mania will start here...

I got this wonderful eyelet kit for my Bernina 1005, and can now sew eyelets in six different sizes!

gem

Kate, HUZZAH!!  I know you've been, erm, eying that eyelet kit!

I'm still trying to work out where to put eyelets in a man's suit...   ;D

I have a pair of swim trunks that use a pair of eyelets on either side of the center front waistband to lace closed. The fly uses Velcro, but the waistband itself uses the eyelets and a tie. This should also work for lounge pants.

I've also seen trousers with a "V" shaped notch at the center rear waistband, with a modesty panel behind, that laced up to allow for variations in waist size.

This suit has to rival Saville Row's best...  The moths ate his other two suits!  I don't think Velcro and draw cords will figure anywhere...  Sadly it won't be garb of any sort, though it will stand up to a day in court if it has to!  The Old Baily rather than St James's...   ;D ;D  NOT that I can imagine my hubby in either place, really, though the last one I made for him served him well as the elected leader the last time he did jury service at Canterbury Crown Court.

Another Husky person is born!

I adore my machine, while I also am eyeing this from Babylock: http://www.babylock.com/embroidery/embroidery-professional/

But I own the Designer SE, nope I did not choose to upgrade to the Diamond, it is a big machine, but I take my machine all over and I just can't see the mobility of the Diamond.

Congrats!! I know you will love yours as much as I adore mine!!
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I'm so happy for you, gem! And so jealous!!!!!

Santa brought me a Sidewinder (bobbin winder!), and a rolling foot for my sewing machine. Still have some $$ left, but am trying to decide between a mini-iron or more trim for my black and turquiose silk gown.

Enjoy the Viking!!!!
