We're back home, safe, and power came back on today about 2pm which was very welcomed by the wife. Glad to hear folks are safe, and our sympathies go out to Martin and his family and their home.

My ike pictures. We came down 45, and then to my parent's house in Brazoria. The pictures are backwards, though, so they start in brazoria. lol

Looks like there will be a lot of fire wood for the old fire ring at TRF this year.

Back at work today with the first internet access since before the  storm.  Apartment still does not have power.  Cell phones are working, but incoming calls do not come through and voice mails tend to arrive 1-2 hours later.  No damage to our place, and we've been enjoying the candles and oil lamps in the evening.

Serious news is that we have a friend in Galveston who stayed and we have no way of contacting him.  He'd lost his job and let his land line go, and then he yakked away his cell phone minutes.  Another friend thought they saw that he was at a neighbor's, but just across the street from his house, which is near 57th street on the north side of the island.  Anyone know how to get news of people in Galveston?  His name is Gerald Richard, if anyone comes across anything.  He and his friends used to work out at TRF YEARS ago.

Me, Heidi and the baby are fine. The night of the storm we lost power at 4am. My son slept through the whole thing. The next night was hard though with no power. Poor little guy was hot. We ended up taking a wet wash coth to try and keep him cool. We are still at my friends apartment we are afraid to leave because of gas. Power is still not on in Friendswood yet. We do have power where we are at. Hopefully we can go home soon. Hope everyone is ok.

Var, www.khou.com seemed to have the most information about everything concerning Ike out of any site I've seen so far.

Back at the office today, we have power there.

As to the status of Casa De Dragon??? No Power and may not have any for 3 weeks.  Guess I get a jump start on the roughing it for TRF huh???  We flooded a little bit, but clean up of that was relatively easy since we don't have carpet in the house, and since it was really not all that much water it went fairly quickly.

Now if I could only find a place to get gas for my vehicles, and ICE to keep stuff cold I'd be doing alright.

Rode out the storm at my parents house at I-45 south and the beltway.  Stayed up all night with my dad, sitting in the garage smoking cigarettes and drinking Dr. Pepper by propane light.  Haven't had power since Friday 8:30 pm.  Now, cooking everything outside, using camping equipment, sleeping with the windows open and hearing all the generators running, it's feeling alot like camping at TRF minus the loud, obnoxious morons!!  Even after living in semi-camping conditions for the next few weeks, I'll still be ready for my TRF!

My sympathies to you, Martin, and your family.   Just words, but they are heartfelt!

I hope the power keeps coming back on in the region.

Here are a couple of links for that stuff:

Thanks, JackGonzo and DonaCatalina for the links.  So much to wade through.

We survived without any major damage. Of course have no power and no idea how long before we get it. Kinda back at work though leaving in a few minutes. Just hanging in there.

Good to hear that all is well with everyone. Martin, warm thoughts and prayers for you and your family!
A good friend of mine from high school who goes to college with me now, her families beach house is completely gone. It was on the beach in Galveston. I was in disbelief when she told me.

Hope the power comes on for all those who are without it! :)
Still Meggers, just a little more grown up now. :)
