Just out of curiosity... haha
Does anyone here have any particular music they listen to on the drive up to faire?

I, for one, can be very picky about the music I listen to on the way up to faire, just cause driving up there puts me in the mood for wine & alchemy, tartanic, e-muzeki, belle & sebastian, and jack johnson... what about all of you? :)
Oh... Shiny!

Taffy Saltwater

It's gotta be Iris & Rose.  Puts me in a nice bawdy, wenchy, struttin' mood.

My drive is fairly short so I usually listen to the local radio.  Although, like many in the US, we have a new vehicle this year so I may load up the mp3 player with some Iris & Rose, Tartanic, Brother, Needfire, Sarah Dinan, Scottish Mayhem, Teribus and any of my other celtic / folk music that grabs my eye.

During camp setup I like to listen to some good pipe and drum music.

We tend to go with lots of pipe & drum music, the Chieftains, some bluegrass, etc.

But as we draw closer to the Faire we bust out the Pogues, Dropkick Murphy's, Macc Lads, Flogging Molly, Blood or Whiskey, etc etc. Any rowdy drinking music we can get our hands on, really.

Gettin excited just thinkin about it!

I listen to Loreena, E Muzeki, Mandy Moore, The Cure, and I LOVE PAUL OAKENFOLD BEFORE FAIRE!!! Oh, and there's a good stretch of The Rogues in there too.

"MOUSE,n. "Animalistic man-child which strews it's path with fainting woman"....less so these days :)

Throw in a little Blackmores Night, with all the others mentioned.

I knew I was leaving one very important one out...Blackmores Night, a little Pogues and dare I say..Enya....Paul Oakenfold. Their collaboration on alot of fantasy music soundtracks is what brought them on my radar, Enya more so with Cursum Percifico..oddly enough, not Orinoco Flow.

How 'bout some Korn - Shoots and Ladders, mixed in with The Rogues...mixed in with ah...maybe Rush...something from A Farewell to Kings. Then maybe Tartanic...something off of Uncivilized, followed by Slipknot, Deftones, Pantara...take your pick

I know it seems a little OCD, but every year since I bought the CD, I have to listen to 'Promise Me' from the First Knight soundtrack as soon as I can see the TRF front gates as I drive towards the camping area.
It ain't the years, it's the mileage.

Wolfden

When I make the 3.5 hour trip to Scarbie I like to listen to old school 80's rock. ACDC, Metallica, Journey, REO Speedwagon, Billy Joel and many others. As I get close, or when I drive the half hour to TRF, I listen to either Cast In Bronze or Celtic Woman to get into the Ren state of mind.

Breandan

since I only live about 20 minutes from faire, I'm usually just listening to the radio, but every once in a while I break out a little Scottish Rogues or similar. If I manage to actually get one of the Tartanic CDs, it's going into the cue as well

Celtic Stone and The Flying Fish Sailors always puts me in the mood to Ren.

I'm with you, brother!!  Toss in a dash of early Zeppelin and a pinch of classical to make a righteous musical stew.
