Stage 4

My grandfather has stage 4 brain, bone and lung cancer....how two hospitals running test after test missed this...and how one could see it in the emergency room....kills me. I am empty. I am taking the rest of the year off from school. They say with treatment he has a 50/50 chance to last a year. My mom will be taking care of him. I will taking care of her and my sister...I think in time the numb will go away...and maybe the scared will leave too....but for now...I am numb and scared....and in great need of prayer....

I am sorry to have to say that I know exactly what you are going through.  My Dad has just finished round one of chemo for lung (and suspected brain) cancer as well.  I understand the numb feeling...it will pass because you have to be as positive as possible and move forward.  This is like having to learn a whole new language and way of living but...for the love of your grandfather...you will do so and more.  I consider myself blessed that I have reached 45 before I have had to be touched so closely by cancer.

Yes, dealing with the doctors can be extremely confusing and at times contradictory.  I hope that there is care and assistance in place for your grandfather like there is here in Canada for my Dad.  I have been extremely touched by the genuine care and concern that has been shown to us by the doctors and especially the nurses.

Go ahead  and  cry all you want girl.  Most of us on here  have had a family member  or  a friend   who   has battled  cancer. We  know  what you are  going  thru.   It is  alright  to be scared , or  angry, or  feel  hurt.   Remember girl  that we are here  for  you, and  any time  you   need us, you just give  a holler,  cause  now  is  when  you need  your  friends the  most.

We have moved the dates to 6 months to a year. The brain tumor is like a glove around the stem of his brain. He is so scared...it's really hard to see someone who I used to liken to an Italian mob boss (I've never seen him in jeans...and he always wore his hair slicked back...when I was little we watched an Italian mob movie...and OH! there he was lol) now crippled, scared and so near death....he always said he wanted to go with his boots on...and now he can't even put em on...
