Olde World/ Twig Renaissnace Festival is cancelled

Even though I was flipping on weather or not to work there this year *hedging my bets and hoping for Chippewa* I got this message in my email box.

With heart felt sadness, I am passing on this information that Olde World Renaissance Festival 2011 season has been cancelled.


My husband even had plans with other members of our group to have some wonderful muskateer outfits this year. At least that is one less costume to make for me.

I am a little sad, there were some great kids up there that I didn't get to see other places.

It saddens me to. I am going to try and make it to Siouxland but dont know if I can. If not then will have to wait til Shakopee. At least this year it looks like I can make it down there for most of the season!

Last weekend at the Minnesota Ren Festival Fest Friends gathering, my husband and I were sharing a table with the couple who organize and run the Festival in Olde World Faire in Twig. We were planning to attend in June. They were interested in having me make some new garb for them.

I wonder what happened? Vendors pull out? Perhaps we will know more as the months pass.

If you check the website it says due to economic circumstances. No more details.

It had such a magical location too....

hopefully there is a 2012 season. This does mean I might try come out to siouxland, never been but hear its a blast.

This really surprised me considering the faire's growth over the last couple of years.  I thought they were doing really well financially all things considered.

Bummer. I really do hope its just for the year. The site really is very cool. Especially with all the dragonflies in June.

  I have never been, so I perused the gallery instead.
  That really is a lovely location! They have a fountain? Awesome.  Perhaps the site is costing more this year, with taxes and everything else going up. 
  Perhaps some of you folks could come over to Siouxland  for your faire fix if it's not too far to drive.  You would most certainly be welcome.

The people who own and run the faire are DaleAnn and Mark Widen. The people you sat with were/are Sheree Johnson and Adam?(don't know last name). Sheree was in charge of street characters for OWRF.

Siouxland Rocks!!!  Sorry TWIG got cancelled, I was actually thinking I might make it this year, but better luck in 2012 I guess.

Sad to hear. Was always a great time. Hopefully will reopen in the future.
