Driving in from North Dallas.

Was wondering about the customer parking at Sherwood. Is it primitive, gravel, paved??

Depending on the weather I'm wondering if I should take the low clearance V-dub (45mpg) or the 4Runner (20mpg).

well, last year it was hard packed lanes with somewhat soft parking areas, a few people got stuck and had to be helped out. I got my 'low clearance' car in and out OK, the trick was to keep the drive wheels (rear in my case) on the hard packed part.   I'm told the lot is 'improved' now.

I was wondering the same thing myself since Google earth shows a dirt road to the camping area.
The main entrance looks like blacktop that peters out to white rock road.

 Alas! The parking lot is dirt. It has been improved. Some areas are sandy. Take care. I got the MeowMobile - mustang GT-stuck a bit but got right out with driving help!

It was a bit of a mess last year. I'm hoping that it's improved.
My truck shouldn't have an issue on it at all but who knows, right?
Still Meggers, just a little more grown up now. :)

 It is much improved from last year!  There has been a lot of additions and improvements at Sherwood! They have been busy! It just gets better and better! Of course- i am not prejudiced at all! LOL! I love this faire!

Will I have difficulty with Homer, the Odyssey, my new van? I would be quite upset to damage Homer the first week I had him...

 I hope not. Anyone is a better driver than I am. You should be fine! I Love your Van's name! LOL!

Now that I've done this I'd like to offer my own opinion. The Bosswench and I took the VW Golf. Handled the county road (Old Potato Rd) well. But we've agree that if it would have started to rain we would've high-tailed it out there because it would most likely get messy for that little car.

Additionally we've decided when we return if the chance of precip is 40% or about it's the 4WD 4Runner instead.

Just my $.02.

Old Potato road was pretty smoothly packed compared to the last couple times I've been down it.  Dad and I had a little laugh coming in, the fellow in front of us was in a Jeep, picking his way along at like 20 MPH,  I hope he didn't venture East down Old Hwy 20, like we did on the way out, it was pretty loose fresh gravel. We did a couple "Dukes of Hazard's" in the turns on the way!  ;D

But as has been noted the parking area is much improved! No problems there.

This is what I drive, BTW;

I'd think with such low rent on the plaza behind ya you'd be driving something more along the lines of:
