So we have a few new acts and i only got to see 2 this weekend with going around saying hi to all my friends i haven't seen since last season.

I went to the cat show on sunday. First off get there early so you can sit as close as you can. I was waiting for celtic legacy to finish then went in and got 3rd row on the inside aisle and it was a great spot. Great show lots of info on the cats i didn't know and i got alot of great photos also. https://picasaweb.google.com/Hikadaf/Renfaire2011FirstWeekend#5617534041583300706 As the trainer says its when things go wrong that the crowd likes the most. In this shot the cat wasn't suppose to grab him but it a wonderful shot.

I did get to hang out in the pirates pub and see some of what was going on there but i will wait on a review i need to look at the acts as individual acts and not compare them to older acts.

Oh wow.... thats a scary shot.  Good.... but scary.
Cause, "Cake or death?" That's a pretty easy question.
Anyone could answer that.
"Cake or death?"
"Eh, cake please."

What a beautiful cat! There were at least 2 different kitties that I could see in those shots. Thanks for the heads up! We'll be sure to catch that show next weekend!

Francisco Paula

there was 4 different cats and possible next week a couple more if he can get them use to the attention.

Adriana Rose

They did seem cranky from the quick glances that I got of the shows. But that is an awesome shot you should put that in the photo contest!

Ded Bob is gone! :( I didn't know till I got there... Such a bummer.
Chik-fil-a is the best restaurant ever. The End.

Oh no, Ded Bob being gone is the answer to all of my prayers! I have dreamed of a faire with no Ded Bob for years.....FINALLY!!!

There was much dancing in the lanes with Dead Bob gone. I know he was a big crowd puller for the ones paying to come through the gate but for regulars and workers most prayed for the day he would be gone. Give him a couple years and bring him back when people have forgotten his same old act by heart.

Jon Hanslow

Hmm, kind of happy to see Ded Bob gone honestly, I had heard his act hadn't changed. Oh well.

I finally got to see Ded Bob in AZ after all these years and Zoe kept texting me the entire script before it would happen.... Spoil sport..........

That's just too funny.

I was actually wanting to see Ded Bob at Sherwood this past year, but just didn't get there. Seems I caught a small piece of his act at Scarby one year (won't swear to that), so I haven't been over-exposed.  It is a good thing to vary the acts from year-to-year if they aren't adding new material enough.

The only cat that was truly unwilling to come out was Dexter, the black spotted leopard.  He's pretty young, and this is his first time at a show in an "uncontrolled" environment.  Opening day, Craig tried to bring him out during the first two shows.  He essentially poked his head around the corner, saw the crowd, said "eff this!", and went back into his cage.  As Craig likes to point out, the Cats are in charge, we're just staff and window dressings.

You also dont try to make a big cat do what it doesnt want to do.

However, the good news is that after canon on sunday, we managed to coax Dexter out on stage for a while, and he and Craig wrestled playfully for a bit.  While it may take one or two weekends, we should be able to get him on stage pretty soon.

We're also working to get a young Tiger from a local sanctuary for the show.  That in negotiations right now, so I'm not sure when Craig expects to have that arranged.

When things go as scheduled on stage, it's an educational show.  When things take an unexpected turn, thats when it gets exciting.  Craig got tagged on the arm 5 or 6 times through the weekend by the Amur Leopard.  Minor cuts (translation: Bleeders, but no severed veins.  Minor is a relative term)  He also got into a wrestling match with Pepe the Ocelot on the second day.  Unfortunately (his word) it happened back stage, so the audience didnt get to enjoy it.

Every show is different, since we never know what the cats are going to do.  And if you are *really* lucky, you may get to see me throw myself in front of a rampaging cat.  I expect to bleed at least once during the season.

For those of you who are disappointed by the lack of Ded Bob, stop by sometime, I'm sure I could recite the show for you.  6 years....4 times a day...16 times a year...with no new material....you do the math.

LOL!!!   I have not the slightest doubt, Fair Zoe.  And you could probably do it better!

We caught the third cat show on Saturday.  It was clear these furry buddies were still getting over their stage fright, but we really enjoyed the show.  I'm sure we'll watch again now that we know to get up close.

Can't say I'll miss Ded Bob.

I do miss Iris and Rose.  Maybe they will come back some day.

Give him a break! After all, he is dead!  ;)  Iris and Rose are a staple at Scarborough. Drop on down for a visit next year, Wheatie.
