Radu the Gypsy

The only cat that was truly unwilling to come out was Dexter, the black spotted leopard.  He's pretty young, and this is his first time at a show in an "uncontrolled" environment.  Opening day, Craig tried to bring him out during the first two shows.  He essentially poked his head around the corner, saw the crowd, said "eff this!", and went back into his cage.  As Craig likes to point out, the Cats are in charge, we're just staff and window dressings.

You also dont try to make a big cat do what it doesnt want to do.

However, the good news is that after canon on sunday, we managed to coax Dexter out on stage for a while, and he and Craig wrestled playfully for a bit.  While it may take one or two weekends, we should be able to get him on stage pretty soon.

We're also working to get a young Tiger from a local sanctuary for the show.  That in negotiations right now, so I'm not sure when Craig expects to have that arranged.

When things go as scheduled on stage, it's an educational show.  When things take an unexpected turn, thats when it gets exciting.  Craig got tagged on the arm 5 or 6 times through the weekend by the Amur Leopard.  Minor cuts (translation: Bleeders, but no severed veins.  Minor is a relative term)  He also got into a wrestling match with Pepe the Ocelot on the second day.  Unfortunately (his word) it happened back stage, so the audience didnt get to enjoy it.

Every show is different, since we never know what the cats are going to do.  And if you are *really* lucky, you may get to see me throw myself in front of a rampaging cat.  I expect to bleed at least once during the season.

For those of you who are disappointed by the lack of Ded Bob, stop by sometime, I'm sure I could recite the show for you.  6 years....4 times a day...16 times a year...with no new material....you do the math.

LOL!!!   I have not the slightest doubt, Fair Zoe.  And you could probably do it better!

We caught the third cat show on Saturday.  It was clear these furry buddies were still getting over their stage fright, but we really enjoyed the show.  I'm sure we'll watch again now that we know to get up close.

Can't say I'll miss Ded Bob.

I do miss Iris and Rose.  Maybe they will come back some day.

Give him a break! After all, he is dead!  ;)  Iris and Rose are a staple at Scarborough. Drop on down for a visit next year, Wheatie.
