I'm posting here because I know the kind and generous nature of our faire family and how many of us have a special place in our hearts for the men and women who serve our country.

As most of you that know me already know I've recently married into the army and my husband is currently deployed.  They are coming home VERY soon!!

Now....here's where you come in!

So everyone knows that not ALL of the returning soldiers have families waiting at home for them.  Some of them will be returning to the barracks which have stood empty since they left.  The ladies of Aaron's batallion and I are working on collecting things to make their homecoming better.

We are asking for donations of: twin sized sheet sets, travel sized toiletries, feminine products, shower curtains AND the rings, bath towels, laundry baskets, laundry deterget, snacks as well as notes of appreciation and welcome home.

I will be returning home to Scarborough for the run of closing weekend.  If you would like to drop ofc donations I would be happy to collect them and bring them back to El Paso for the soldiers.  I will be at the joust arena!

While I fear I am not much help I would like to say Thank you. I know the feeling of returning to an empty barracks and can assure you while it is nice to return to a familiar safe zone it is a very cold and surreal surrounding. It feels almost sterile and we often had a 24 hour period before being released upon unsuspecting civilians. Thank you for your service as being a soldiers wife is a job unto itself complete with many hidden sacrafices. Thank you.

Rabbi, I will not be able to do a WHOLE lot, but something EVERYONE can do, is simply write a little thank you note. When my ex was deployed, he said the best thing he ever received in a care package was notes/cards from the elementary school classroom that "adopted" him as their pen pal Marine. He said just knowing that he wasn't forgotten on the other side of the planet gave him strength, hope, and joy. These brave men and women sacrifice so much of their own personal lives to support our nation, and if a simple little thing I can do in 5 minutes can bring one of them a smile- it is way more than worth my time.
Not all who wander are lost =)

I would be happy to pick up any letters or cards you wish to send them :-) If you cannot make it to deliver them to me during closing weekend I can PM you my address and I will see that they are delivered :-)

We've already talked about this on facebook, and I can't wait to finally meet you in person. =)

We should be at faire closing day at least, and if something comes up and I can't make it- I'll call Minion and Brittney (Minion lives 5 minutes from me) and have them deliver stuff to you. =) All is well. Thanks again for sharing and giving us the opportunity to give back!

I spoke with the woman in charge of this project yesterday.  She said the greatest need is for twin sized sheets and bath towels.

If you plan on donating please let me know so I can be readily available to you!
