So the bank I am at recently got bought out by BB&T
I need to order new checks.
If I go through them itll cost me $50 for a box- mind you $13 of that is shipping which  is highway robbery considering they could be shipped flat rate priority mail for $6 and get to me in 3 days instead of 12.

I've often gotten those flyers for check ordering companies.

Anyone have one they trust and do business with that hasn't gone out and sold all their personal information??

thanks

AGES ago I would order through Checks Unlimited.  I never had any issues with them, but again, it was ages ago.

The Duchess and I have obtained our checks from Checks Unlimited for more than 30 years.  Never a problem.

Cheers, and good hunting.

Agree with the Checks Unlimited thing. But just an added thought...my bank offers a free bill pay. It's not an automated every month deal. I have to log in, click who I want money sent to, fill in the amount, and Go! So unless you need checks to send one to school with a child for a field trip or something, there are other options.

Thanks everyone
I will go take a look, its nice to double check with you guys first.

Ms.Trish, my new bank does also, but I am old school in that I like paper copies ( I always order checks with duplicates), and I like the physical act of sitting down and ordering checks. I like having on hand records of things like that. I will be one of the last people to switch to paperless billing.

I am in the process of switching banks possibly anyway- I am REALLY not liking BB&T
so we shall see what happens.

Thanks guys

I began ordering checks back in the late-90's or early-00's (when I had a Veiled Chameleon) from Styles Checks ( www.styleschecks.com ), because they had one series with various Reptiles and Amphibians.   ;D   Their prices were quite reasonable, considering that I order the style with the carbon duplicate, and the hologram security label.

I order from Checks Unlimited.  I like to get the 3 to a page, wallet size, so I can print them on my laser printer using Quicken.  Saves the cramped fingers pain.

Like Auryn, I like a paper that I can actually sign.  I do use an auto-pay for some things like insurance, but not my routine monthly bills like utility and credit cards.

I'm old-school on many things, but I got a box of 100 checks 5 years ago, and am about half-way through them. It is so much cheaper to tele-bank (my bank has a particularly good system), you're protected from fraud, no postage, no fees, and they guarantee that the checks (or electronic transfer) will arrive by due date, or they pay the late fees.

I had so much trouble with mailed checks not arriving at destination, or bills not arriving my home, I said the hell with it. Paychecks are all direct deposit as well.

$50 for a box of checks is robbery, unless it's a case of 5000.

My bank doesn't charge me for checks, but I would go with checks unlimited too.   They are the least expensive and they've been around forever.
You can also see if your creditors have a free online bill pay site as we do. Some charge fees, be careful.

I'm like you, Auryn, I like to pay bills with checks that have the carbon copy. I've gotten my checks free through the bank for many years now but have had to switch banks a few times to do it. When a bank begins to charge me for stuff, I move on!

Well
I am definitely switching banks now- the ppl at BB&T are crazy- and not the good kind.
So I am holding off on ordering the checks just yet.

I am debating between TDBank, Regions, and Chase.  I wanted a credit union but all the local ones require some for of affiliation that I don have

Most of the military CU's don't require you to be military.  Have you tried one of those?  Anything with 'Federal' in the title is usually open to the public.   My son banks at SAC federal CU, he's never been in the military.

I'm at TD Bank now and don't have any complaints. They're open for more hours than other banks in my area. Saturdays too.
