M'lord Dugyn and I are seeking a faire at which we can Honeymoon. We have done a little bit of research, and are having difficulty making a decision, or knowing whether we are looking at all the options.

The Date: Ceremony is May 23rd, so we are seeking a faire open May 30 - 31st.

The plan: We'll drive down from Ontario, and I need to be back to work on Tuesday June 2nd.

We would really like a hard site type of Faire, since all of our local faires are soft sites (By that I mean vendors operate out of a tent)

I really really would prefer Renaissance rather than Medieval, although Pirate would be acceptable.

Any suggestions on cheaper (non camping) lodging would also be appreciated (We are on a tight budget!)

Thank you!

CongaRats to you and Lord Dugyn, Orphena! I've listed the faires that I have on the FaireNews Calendar for that weekend.

TN Tennessee Renaissance Festival - Arrington-Triune, Tennessee - Southeast of Nashville
OK Oklahoma Renaissance Festival at the Castle of Muskogee - Muskogee, Oklahoma
GA Georgia Renaissance Festival - Fairburn, Georgia
CA Valhalla Renaissance Faire - Lake Tahoe, California
IA Dubuque Renaissance Festival - Dubuqe, Iowa
KY Kentucky Renaissance Faire - Eminence, Kentucky
MI MayFaire Renaissance Festival - Marshall, Michigan

I can speak from experience on the Tennessee and Georgia faires. Both are well established, multi-weekend faires.

It'll be TN's final weekend and it is primarily a soft site with a few permanent buildings. And the Castle, never forget the Castle. If you choose Tn, be sure to take the tour of the castle. Search Murfreesboro for your hotel options. There are a good number, we've stayed at the Days Inn, the Super 8, and one other that I can't remember the name of right now but it's across the street from the other two.

GA is a hard site. I've not been there in several years but enjoyed it the time I attended. I camped when I went to Ga, so can't make hotel recommendations.

The other faire during that time frame that is hard, if I remember correctly, is the Oklahoma faire. Hopefully someone else will chime in with advice.

You might want to think about the Greater St. Louis Renaissance Faire.

Mayfaire is a soft faire, but is really fun. It's a small yet growing faire, very friendly.

Dubuqe RF in Dubuque, IA is a new faire.  This will be it's second year.  It is a lot of fun, but very small, and you could do the whole faire in less than 5 hours.  It is also a soft faire.  It's probably not what you had in mind for a honeymoon faire, but if you're passing through on your way home from St. Louis, if you decide to go to that one, it would be fun to stop.

I don't have any suggestions, I'm afraid. I just wanted to say Congratulatons!  ;D

What a lovely idea to honeymoon at Faire - Wishing you both all the happiness you could possibly dream of!

Aha! Thank you friends new and old! I knew I could count on you to provide a fuller list than what I could dredge up! We are most busy with plans for our upcoming nuptiuals, but will likely try to investigate those faires mentioned. I think that St Louis holds the most attraction at the first glance, in that our carriage ride home in one day is feasable.

I will take some time in the coming week(s) and look at all the information given here! Thank you so much!
