Anyone going to be there? I know that a group of friends and I are planning on making a trip on Saturday.

I'm there all weekend, as will a lot of the D/FW area wenches, rogues & pirates.

I'll look for you too! And I'll be stopping by the FoF Booth to have my photo taken and pick up my pass.

Is this event garb friendly?

Even though the event is garb friendly, I really don't have any Irish related garb, barely anything green.
Will my bodice/current garb be alright?
Still Meggers, just a little more grown up now. :)

raevyncait

absolutely, last year we had various garb sorts of themes, from Irish & Scottish, to basic wench/rogue, to pirate.

We will be there with our booth, you should bring your puppy, it is a dog friendly event.  ;D  We will be inside one of the buildings, but they haven't assigned spots yet. Hope to see you there, and have a great day.

A friend of ours from Scarby (sadly now deceased) went in garb to NTIF a few years back.  She was well endowed, and wore a bodice to this event.  Nothing risque mind you, something that would be considered 'reasonable' at faire.  She was approached by security first, then immediately afterwards by the event coordinator and told that she was 'inappropriately dressed'.  After the initial encounter with security, she put on a rather nice cloak, but apparently being well endowed, she was not completely hidden by the fabric.  Event management called the police to have her escorted off the property.  She was told to change her attire, or leave, her choice.  There was no 'scene' made, no disruptive behavior, no other excuse for having her escorted off by the police.

Now we ALL carry alternate garb in the car for every event we attend, don't we?  All women can hide their physique with other garb, can't they?  Although 'go change, or leave the premises' sounds politically correct, yeah right!  The comment was made for appearances and legalities, I expect.

For those who would say this is 'heresay', well, if being an eye witness to every (public) aspect of the situation falls under 'heresay', then so be it.  I (and my wife) were there, and having known NTIF staff directly and indirectly for a number of years, payed very keen attention to all that was said and done (on both sides).  The fact that we were present and paying attention DEFINITELY did not go unnoticed  ;), but  hey... their event, their rules... we had no say in the matter other than to be witnesses.

The pathetic thing was that the people covering the Scarby booth were dressed in a much more 'revealing' way.  They looked the part of wenches more so than anything else (which, I must admit, they did look very good, and it was a good selling strategy).  No objection was made about them... even after this point was made to the coordinator in plain sight of the Scarby booth...  most of the discussion was less than 20 feet from the Scarby booth.

Understand that in no way do I consider the Scarby personnel in the wrong as far as dress code or attire, and as far as I know, they were unaware of the entire drama that unfolded a few feet from their booth.  I find it disconcerting that there is (was) a double standard by NTIF.  I would find it even more infuriating if anyone else was blind sided by this.

Still torqued by that one... be forewarned...

Thanks for the heads up. I know that I will be modest about my choice in attire for the weekend and encourage my friends to be too, which depends on whether or not my group will be driving all the way to Fair Park or riding the DART out there.

Yay!  Officially got the time off, hotel reserved, and plans are finally made.  I'll be there all day Saturday and some of Sunday!

I do not know if I will be in attendance at all. I have to work Saturday and so if I do go at all, it will be Sunday...price of tickets is a bit more than I would like though.

And I'm out sick again another day from work.  :-\

We are not volunteering at NTIF for the first time in many, many years.
But this is a great faire to volunteer to work.
Lots of goodies and good music.
If you work two shifts, you get free admission, 2 beers and a t-shirt. Not bad, eh?

They always need last minute volunteers so don't think its too late.
I can provide the email to the volunteer coordinator if anyone needs it.

Good luck and bless the Irish!
