Wonderful!! I love any Robin Hood movie and Cate Blanchett is amazing!

Well. That's... good and bad.
Good because Ridley Scott is an outstanding director and I've always been a big Robin Hood fan in general.

But, I've had this dream (that I know will never be realized) of making a massive, epic Robin Hood film. One that would run about close to three hours and need about a good 15 mins or so cut out of it so it can get an "R" rating.

PG-13? Blech.

Oh, well. I'll remain hopeful.

Lady Ashly

I agree with you on that! It definitely needs an "R" rating to portray the story properly. Most PG-13 movies these days just end up being not worthwhile. At least when it comes to battle scenes, etc.

Exactly! My idea/wish was for the film to more closely adhere to the original ballads. That means no Maid Marian and it also means stealing from the rich...and keeping it for himself. Oh, and parading around like a lunatic with Guy of Guisburn's head on a stake.

I have known about this film for almost 2 years. I have been a BIG Russell Crowe fan since 1997. I have seen Russell perform live at the House of Blues in Chicago several times in 2001 and 2003. A dear friend of mine in the LA area is a friend of his and they meet up whenever he is in the states to promote a film he has coming out. I have several photos of them together on my Entertainment center.

For this film, my friend suggested that I put in a resume and picture disc in the hopes of getting my foot in the door to be a sewer for the costumes. I sent this all to Ridley Scott's Production company in LA. I did this a year ago. I was politley rejected, though complimented for my workmanship and attention to detail. It was suggested that I resubmit another resume and picture disc to have on file for future consideration to be able to work with Scott's Costume Designer and Oscar winner for 'GLADIATOR', Janty Yates.  I will do that this summer after I have done other period work.

I am anxious to see this film, for it is being shot in England. I could have been gone for several months.

This film will be the 5th collaboration between Russell Crowe and Ridley Scott. Russell is as anal about his work as I am. Ridley Scott is one of my favorite directors. He does not make bad films.

Crowe is to play the roles of both Robin and the Sheriff in this production.....seriously.

since when?  IMDB has Matthew Macfadyen listed as the Sheriff . . .

I hope you're correct, but one of the sub articles in that link discusses Ridley's choosing Crowe to play both. A twist to the tale....
