So, the best that Colorado has to offer is that it doesn't get as hot, and it'd be bigger if it wasn't so wrinkly? As to "higher", yeah, we'll just leave that one alone (*ahem*), but I don't recall anyone else bringing that up.

In fact, I don't recall the discussion being about Colorado, good or bad. The thread was about Texas. If you'd like to start a thread about Colorado however, please do. I'm sure I can find some very nice things to say about your home.

WTF?!?!?!? Can someone PLEASE explain to me why people feel the need to post negatively about someone else's home state? I mean DAMN! How RUDE! But you know, now that you mention it...

If you love your Colorado so much, you can keep it. I prefer to stay right here in my home state of Texas, where I can go to all four corners and experience something new and exciting both in culture and environment. There's always something to do here, and it almost never includes chowing trail mix and playing Kumbaya while waiting to die in a snowstorm.

And as for all the people that left, some people just aren't Texas material. I mean, it takes a pretty extraordinary person to call themselves a Texan.

Thank you, that is all :D

Oh, but goodness gracious, they're just so grrreeeeennn. I mean, they use windmills, which cost more, take up much more space, all the while giving less return. Oh, but it's cleaner. Nevermind that the country is hundreds of times cleaner than it was in the industrial revolution and before (and has more trees) and nevermind that it takes fossil fuels to make and maintain these so-called clean means of energy.  ::) I mean, there must be a major consumer demand for them... ya know... since they're everywhere across this whole nation and everything, right? Oh, wait.  ;)

I guess this must be why the economy is doing so horrible in TX and oh-so-wonderful in CO.

Some people just hear Dan Rather or whatever belch into their ear for half an hour and simply check in with the attitude that "Well, I guess that's the whole of the matter!"

Well, Colorado all right but it an't all that. I've seen days in Denver when you couldn't see the Mt. becuse of all the smog, and having your windshild busted out form hail stones from summer storms. The state is nice BUT I never want to live again in Denver. Oh, and I forgot about all the up tight Lib's in Vale, but we'll stop on that note.

Hey Brier, see you hail from Arkansas, now there is a pretty state!  Have not been there for years but hope to visit soon (don't even start me on the Ozarks!).  I see "Ugly" claims Georgia as home, Long time since I've been there.  Amazing antebellum homes and civil war monuments everywhere.  Been to Colorado too, Great Sand Dunes Monument, and Mesa Verde...wow.

Point is, I love all the states in this country, as far as the South goes, you can keep your danged summer!  Holy hot as Hades!!!  Now I live in Minnesota, prettiest North Shore period!  But Winter?  Please teach me how to hibernate so I can skip the fridgid hell that is Minnesota in winter!

Guess I'm saying it's good and bad everywhere, hope we can get back to the topic...Texas.  Love your toast by the way!   ;D

Okay people, let's settle down.  Any more arguing and I'll give people time outs if they feel the need to continue to act like children.

Returning to topic, fun stuff about my home state:

Texas is the only state to have the flags of 6 different nations fly over it. They are: Spain, France, Mexico, Republic of Texas, Confederate States, and the United States.

Texas is the only state to enter the United States by treaty instead of territorial annexation.

The state was an independent nation from 1836 to 1845.

Texas boasts the nation's largest herd of whitetail deer.

A coastal live oak located near Fulton is the oldest tree in the state. The tree has an estimated age of more than 1,500 years.

More wool comes from the state of Texas than any other state in the United States.

Texas is home to Dell and Compaq computers and central Texas is often referred to as the Silicon Valley of the south.

The first suspension bridge in the United States was the Waco Bridge. Built in 1870 and still in use today as a pedestrian crossing of the Brazos River.

The capitol in Austin opened May 16, 1888. The dome of the building stands seven feet higher than that of the nation's Capitol in Washington, D.C.

The first word spoken from the moon on July 20, 1969 was Houston.

El Paso is closer to Needles, California than it is to Dallas.

The state's cattle population is estimated to be near 16 million.

More land is farmed in Texas than in any other state (so much for no space!)

More species of bats live in Texas than in any other part of the United States.

Texas is the nation's leading producer of oil, natural gas, beef, sheep, goats, wool, cotton, rice...and, oh yes, watermelons.

Port Lavaca has the world's longest fishing pier. Originally part of the causeway connecting the two sides of Lavaca Bay, the center span of was destroyed by Hurricane Carla in 1961.

The Tyler Municipal Rose Garden is the world's largest rose garden. It contains 38,000 rose bushes representing 500 varieties of roses set in a 22-acre garden.

The world's first rodeo was held in Pecos on July 4, 1883.

The world's largest rodeo is the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.  It is also the largest 501(c)3 charity of its kind in the world, operated by over 21,000 volunteers and generating $10 million per year in scholarships.

The Flagship Hotel on Seawall Boulevard in Galveston is the only hotel in North America built entirely over the water.

Brazoria County has more species of birds than any other comparable area in North America.

The Aransas Wildlife Refuge is the winter home of North America's only remaining flock of whooping cranes. (Grew up near there, and heard them flying in for the winter every year. Big birdies!)

The smallest Catholic church in the world still in operation claims to be in Warrenton. Measuring 12 feet by 15 feet, the church seats 15 and is only open once a year. (been there!)

Texas has four national forests – Angelina, Davy Crockett, Sabine and Sam Houston.

A piper, John McGregor, played on the walls of the Alamo during the siege.

Texas is one of the top producers of forest products in the United States, with the second most forested acreage in the South.

The largest military base in the world, Fort Hood, is located in Killeen, in central Texas

Two of the three largest universities in the United States are in Texas; Texas A&M University at College Station and the University of Texas at Austin.

The Breedlove Food Dehydration Plant in Lubbock is the world's first nonprofit dehydration plant dedicated to relieving hunger. The plant makes dehydrated rice dinners, vegetables and soup mixes that are sent to food banks and international charities. Millions of its meals have been delivered to victims of natural disasters in the United States and around the world.

I'm sure every place has things to be proud of! These are just some of ours.

This could well explain the attack, they just wanted him to stop!   ;D

Being a bit of a history buff myself...The first "official" battleship was named the "Texas" harboring a whole new class of warship...

Having been born in Colorado and moved to Texas...I have to say, going home to CO is nice...but Texas is home.

Wouldn't change having been raised in Texas for anything.  ;D
