So I got curious today as I heard on the radio station that gas in Denver was now $2.99 a gallon. It's $3.13 at the cheap in my town with most being $3.23 and 2.5 hours north of me it's $2.31 in Wheatland Wyo.

It always upsets me to see gas at one Gas station $.05 to $.15 higher at another less than 1/4 mile away or at the same chain 1 mile4 away.

So what is gas in your area?

Rumor says oil could drop to $40 a barrel, Do you think we the consumer will see prices below $2.00?

And since the stocks are falling I think this just shows the Fed's that speculators are helping drive up the cost.

Chime in and post prices in your area and what you think is driving up/down the cost of oil.

To be on-topic, I think the Kroger by me was at $2.89 when I passed it this morning.  What I wanted to mention is that I see this all the time.  There is almost always a significant difference between gass by my house and gas down the road.  If the difference is enough, I will drive down to the cheaper gas, or plan my route so I pass it on the way home.

Yep, I saw 2.89 at a few places this morning.  When I'm getting low on gas I watch the prices at all the stations on my route.  There can easily be a 20 cent difference within a 15 mile radius...

I don't understand all the complaining- the gas I got for $4 a gallon was sooo much better than this cheap $3 stuff.

The cheapest I've seen around here (Syracuse, NY) is about 3.35/gal, and sadly enough, that was quite exciting for me.  :-\

$2.69/gal

One of the reasons gas is plunging is the same reason it went up...the dollar is gaining strength in the world monetary market.  Gas, no matter who buys it, is purchased in dollars.  When the buck is strong gas is cheap, when it's weak it costs more.

Gas would have been even less in my area but they increased the tax something like 6 cents/gal.

Well, I'm glad it's comming down, it was going to cost me about $350 dollars in gas to drive down to TRF. As of to day gas droped 8 cents here in East Arkansas, Forrest City / Wynne area  I-40 to Memphis 2.91 a gal. and E85 is 2.39.
Can anybody tell me what the price of  gas is in Huntsville TX. Thats were I stop to fill up on my way in to TRF?

I'm seeing $2.89 too, but I live in pretty much the same area as Aiacha.  Gas seems to be more expensive along major roads and waaaay out in the boonies.

Never thought I would think of $2.89 gas as "cheap".  I remember getting upset over having to pay $1.50.

Gas in Dubuque, IA where I work is $2.85.  In the Walmart in Galena, IL, if you use their card, it's 3 cents off, and the sign shows $2.85, so that would make it $2.82.  However, 1 block down the street, in a regular gas station (not connected to Walmart), the price is $3.14.  That is a difference of 32 cents per gallon!  Something is definitely wrong here.   ???

I'll take that $2.85 and even pay $3.00 for it. The best I've found lately in Mooresville, NC lately was $3.85.

Here in Oklahoma City I have seen $2.31 per gallon.

It's $3.16 in Smyrna just south of Nashville. This just a few weeks after the gas Panic where most places were $4.29 and even as high as $4.49.

$3.09 is the lowest in St. Augustine. Prices are ranging from $3.09 (sold out) to $3.49.
