Can't verify the following, but have read articles that indicate that the tartan/clan association is a relatively recent development—the past 150 years or so.  I also read that Pixar has submitted their tartan for registration to whomever handles that sort of thing.  Rennie trivia...

I agree with this one... I love spending money on faire! Christmas is sometimes a different story, lol!

Merlin:  I heard that too about creating a tartan.  It's only worn by the family/clan of the heroine though. The other 3 clans are Macintosh, Dingwall and MacGuffin. While the tartans are a relatively new thing (supposedly) I would hope that if there are tartans attached to these names/clans that Pixar would have used the correct ones.
Off to research tartans!!

There's just something, perhaps, poetic about that.

My daughter used to have a bumper sticker that said, "Remember, pillage first, then burn." It was amazing how many of her friends asked, "What does that mean?" Apparently it was more practical than we thought.
