~when at work hunters come in to eat after a day of bow hunting and you talk to them the entire time about bows and arrows and targets, etc., theirfore gaining their respect and attention,  before you realize you have to explain that YOU don't hunt with your bow, you take it to faire. . .
but they leave you a good tip anyway!

You take archery lessons so you can shoot in the tournament at faire (since it's been years since you shot much and you don't want to look completely awful).  You're the only one in the class NOT using a compound bow, and when they get you to try one, you can't even shoot it, being too used to traditional bows.

I only wish I'd already gotten my English longbow.  That would have really freaked them out.  I did the class with an old recurve I'd been given.  However, I did get to admire a father and son who used the range before our class with beautiful longbows - they were both excellent shots.

Since we are on the topic of archery....

You take the line at the local archery range and realize that everyone else has stopped shooting and is watching you.  Shortly after the questions start about what the bow is made of, the arrows, where you can buy the quiver, where is your release and sights, arrow shelf....ect.

The looks really start when you explain that the bow is all wood, same with the arrows shafts, you show them your gloved hand for the shelf, your other gloved hand for the relase, and explain stitched the leather quiver yourself.

Sounds like the first time I shot. :)  The range had moden recurves with carved handles, arrow shelves, etc for us to use.  So, I went about learning how to shoot on one of those.  But I had also brought my Dad's longbow with me.  After shooting for awhile, the guy running the range strung the longbow for me, and I actually shot better with that then with the modern bow. :)

~you call the winner of the joust a witch every time you see him, then just because you got into the habit at the faire, for the next three days you call every other person a witch...(got me in trouble with a teacher once...)

SISTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, I finally got around to unpacking my basket from Stronghold, was putting away the pouches, belts, etc. and couldn't bear to completely wipe all the dust from the sides of my pouch.

It's Faire-e-dust  ::)
