...all you want for your birthday is a trip to faire! (Bristol, to be exact)

My husband's birthday (today) and our anniversary (yesterday), we didn't give each other traditional presents or cards.  Instead, we leave tomorrow morning at 6 a.m. (because our restaurant is open Friday and Saturday nights) and drive to St. Louis.  Our presents:  two days at the Greater St. Louis Renaissance Festival.  Huzzah!

Which we did when we went to Rendezvous in TN last year, but as our major source of income in this very poor economy, it wasn't feasible.  And without the money, then there's no faires for us at all.

But a true rennie would get home at 1 a.m. from work, after a week of 12-14 hour days and get 4 hours of sleep and get up to drive 5 hours each way to go to an out of state faire for 2 days.  Which is what my true rennie husband is doing today.

Thanks for all the good wishes.  We can't think of a better place to celebrate than at faire!

Happy Anniversary to you both and Happy Birthday to Lord Stephen!

My husband and I do something very similar because we celebrate our anniversary every year at Great Lakes Medieval Faire!

You forget and go to faire on your anniversary, without your spouse.

You get bitten 5-7 times on the feet and ankles by fire ants in the parking lot for scarby, and you still go to opening cannon, and close the faire despite your ankles being the size of grapefruits.   ;D

It is kind of strange watching your personal history become costume.

??? Without your spouse? Did that really happen to you, Malcom, or was it someone you know or knew (depending on the spouse...LOL)?

It was me, and it was last Sunday. My wife didn't remember either until her sister-in-law called, so I didn't get into trouble.

Your Faire-loving DD8 gives you serious grief because you didn't tell her it was the 'Day of Wrong' at Faire so she could garb accordingly.

Seriously, just about every time someone walked by dressed 'wrong' she'd sigh & say 'I wish you'd of told me it was the Day of Wrong'.
