Whatsitcalled? Pointy filigree on hats and standing ruffs

What are these called?

They are pointy metal sticks that radiate out of late 16th century Elizabethan standing ruffs, hats, French hoods, etc. They look a bit like rays of light coming from the sun. Or icicles.

I've seen them called 'billaments', but I think that refers more to strands of beads/pearls, or to the beads themselves, not to the overall concept of the pointy things.

I'd love to include more images of what I'm talking about, but not knowing what it's called, it's hard to find them!

They've got to have a name!

Biliments or Biliment lace depending on wether the jewels were integral to the lace.
