So, I was all jazzed over the new faerie bag I was going to make for faire to replace my basket- just a simple square tote with a strap long enough to sling across my body, that's big enough for camera, mini tripod, purchases, etc.

then I realized that if i have a bag slung across my body, it kinda ruins the 'look' (and by look I mean cleavage)

thinking maybe just add loops so it can ALSO be hung from the belt at the side, but it has to be at LEAST 1.5 ft square... Cant just do the one shoulder thing cause I hunch up that shoulder and end up hurting the next day

thoughts?

Maybe you could make the strap to tie around your waist (with the ties under your belt, maybe) so it is slung on your hip, and doesn't drag at your belt?

that was exactly my thought, Rani- I can make the strap long enough to leave some extra to tie around the waist, but then, still be able to manage it on regular outings when I'm not in garb...

And you can tie the straps to use it as a cross-shoulder bag, as well.  Funny... I seem to be experiencing deja vu!  Wait, there it goes again!!!  ::)  :P

oh hush you dork! LOL well, i'll be sure to bring it AHE- it's gonna be cute- my mom has an embroidery machine, and had made me this cute faerie AGES ago, i just never got around to DOING anything with her! so, she's gonna be the focal, and I'm taking all my glitzy faerie fabrics and making a random patchwork for the rest of the bag

Wait... wha?  What are you doing with that Fairy?!?!?!?   :o  :o  STOP THAT!!!  Fairy molester!!!  (teach you to call ME a dork...)  :P

Oh, sorry... I mean, carry on...  :D  It sounds like it's gonna be gorgeous!!!

I dont think it's molestation when I am a faerie too...

it's going to be interesting, that's for sure! I need to buy a couple of zippers for it, unless I can harvest one the right length from something old...

and I'm rooting about for any awesome scraps of fabric to use in the patchwork- not sure yet if I want to do an actual pieced pattern, or just squares...

Zippers?!?  Blasphemer!!!  I'm not sure, but I think I can see the villagers milling about with their torches as we speak...  You just keep diggin' the hole, don'tcha?  Might not want to get rid of that handbasket quite so soon, or you might be without a ride...  :P  ;)

I'd say the pattern would depend on how fussy you are as a Fairy.  If you have everythig else "just so" then probably a pattern would look perfect, but if you're one of those scattered Fairies whose hair won't stay tidy, and whose wings are always just a bit skewed, the the crazier the patchwork the better, I think.  Whatever feels right to you when you're cutting, I guess...  ;)

Lady Kett

Have you considered TWO pouches Bellevivre? No reason you can't have one on your belt for necessities and one on your pouch for treasures which you purchase throughout the day.

I like Rani's idea of the "just so" vs "scattered" on the patterns. Please do show us pics with what you end up with!

bellevivre

LadyKett, the primary concern is I want to use the faerie my mom embroidered for me, and my camera is BIG (DSLR size, it's pretending to be super fancy) so I need something bigger than a pouch (lol I have pouches GALORE!

also, lol Lady McArthur jams would be HEAVY on my belt! still will be in a bag tied around my waist and hanging from the hip, but more secure, I think...

Mmmmmmm...  Jam.  Will we be having a Fairy picnic?  Will you be carrying the bread and butter with you, as well, or shall I bring that?  Maybe we can talk Fraser out of some banana nut bread (Loki) to go with it!

;D  hehehe

But... but... YOU'RE the one who mentioned the JAM!!!  :P  And there just has to be bread and butter if there's jam, right?  I mean... bread, butter, jam and Fairies just go together, right?  Oh, and dandelion tea... I wonder if we can find some there, or should I get some from the field before they're all gone?

Hmmm... maybe some acorn cups, also...  And some daisy chains...  Oh! And some pumpkin cookies...

Oh, sorry... wandered off there for a minute!  So, have you decided on a pattern yet?  :D
