Upside/Downside

The idea for this thread came from someone who hasn't been around for a while, so I thought I'd go ahead and toss it up and see if it would fly.  Simple premise, really... just give the Upside and the Downside to whatever comes to mind...  

Such as...

Got a BIG jump on garb for my renlet today...

Upside - She got a cute new pirate hat and a cool skull & xbones belt buckle for a baldric, so she's mostly set for her pirate garb, except for boots!  
Downside - Now she's buggin' me for "real" sharp pointies (sword and dagger) to carry around at Faire so she can look more like a "real" pirate!!!

I aced my Microbiology practical today.

Upside: I impressed the professor and earned a good grade.

Downside: One of my slides cracked and broke, dripping crystal violet stain all over my hands. They are now purple.

Weeeell...

Upside - I have a kiddo who has an excellent imagination, and isn't afraid to use it!!!
Downside - I'll be constantly making new garb for her until I can teach her how to sew for herself...    LOL

I have an amazingly brilliant Honor Roll student!!!

Upside -  Her favorite way to celebrate achievements is for me to make her pancakes...
Downside - I foresee LOTS of pancake flipping in my future...

I bought new bedroom furniture over the weekend!

Upside: This is my "first" set of actual new bedroom furniture!

Downside: I have to be there all day to wait for the delivery crew to drop it off and set it up! (grrr.....)

My husband and I own our first house!

Upside:  We own a house!  No more rent, or dealing with annoying landlords, or trying to find somewhere to park.  It's our space.  We can do what we want with it, and really make it ours. 

Downside:  Mortgage, all the maintaince, more space to clean, empty rooms we don't have furniture for yet, all the responsibilities that come with home-ownership.

Elannare- We are in the exact same boat!  Love having our own home finally but man is it work.

We have three amazing kids who really enjoy a variety of activities.

Upside- I get to see my kids excel at things they enjoy.
Downside- Sometimes the schedule is a bit grueling and we're outnumbered.

Got to go to TRF this last weekend.

Upside: Had a wonderful time seeing old friends and making new ones.

Downside: My car broke down on the way home.
