Hmmm, I drink some of those beers.

I think I've only had one beer on that list: Negra Modelo. I didn't try it a second time!
I came, I saw, I skipped to my lou.

I love the review for #1-"Bad aftertaste, rancid mouth. Not fit for students, bums or the desperate for a drink. Nothing but horrible taste and booze. I am less of a person for having consumed this."
On the Best Beers list-I dont' even like beer, but I'm intrigued by something calls "Surly Darkness"

In a book I received years ago as I recovered from surgery, the beer that they listed as the worst was one that I had tasted before. It was called Texas Pride. I hope Texas has more pride these days.

I read the list to Theater freinds of mine.  In the top 10  even THEY wouldn't touch them.  If they were in the 10-20 range they said they might touch them if they were free.  But that does say something when even broke collage age theater students won't even touch the beer.
It is kind of strange watching your personal history become costume.

My dear Dad, may he rest in peace, was not particular what kind of beer he drank (my father-in-law [who fed me the Texas Pride] was the same way). Whatever was on sale was what ended up in the fridge. He had a source for damaged-can Old Milwaukee, so that was a regular thing. If I was going to drink beer at his house, I would bring my own. I have a palate attuned to quality beers. I cannot, and will not, drink swill, free or not.

Funny thing is, most of the people that I know at the castle actually like Bud Lite.

Leinie's Fireside Nut Brown made the list?  Man, I LIKE that stuff!

If it says "light" on the label, it does not find its way into this ever-growing stomach of mine. I know Miller Lite is a favourite for many, but it actually makes me sick—one drink and I have a killer headache—so I have to stay away from it regardless.

The worst beers I have tasted tend to be regional and craft beers, but by the same token, some of the best U.S. beers I've had have been regional and craft beers. There is one local restaurant that has its own brewery—I think it was the first to do so—and for years its beers have tasted soapy to me, an indication of an infection in the beer. Nobody else seems to notice or care, but I home-brewed for a number of years and made some quality brews.

No offence to Texans, but the worst beers I've had (so far) were Texas beers.

That's probably because most of the family breweries were bought out in the 50's and 60's by mega-breweries who dumbed down the original German dark and semi-dark beers to carbonated beverages like Miller Lite. You probably would have liked Grand Prize beer.

Are there any of those left in Texas? I'd love to try one next visit! Being German, I do like my beer! Also, are there any good German restaurants anywhere near Scarby?

Absolutely outstanding.  Surly is a local brewery here, and this is a VERY limited edition run.  A few people may get one or two bottles, that's the limit.  Most places sell out within a few minutes after offering if for sale.

For the longest time I didn't think I liked beer because all I had tried were things like Lone Star, Bud light and such. Then I discovered Shiner. A Texas beer for sure and one with a great taste.
Next thing I discovered was my Lovely Lady (who is a complete beer snob) who introduced me to the many many wonderful craft brews our state has to offer.
Don't judge us by the corporate owned swill  just by the true Texas brews and you will find a wonderful array of flavors that will surprise you I am sure. I am willing to bet Wisconson isn't exactly proud of some of their national selling beers either (Milwaukee's Best? Milller anything? gag)
I will be at the Austin Beerfest, i challenge anyone to come there and try some truly amazing beers.

*Of course all that being said... I would still rather have rum given the choice lol*
