What can I do with 64 yards of twill tape?

I'm still trying to decide on guards for my new black middle class skirt. I'm not 100% sure I'm willing to sacrifice the amount of my pinked microsuede I'll need to make bias tape, so I've been looking at cotton twill tape (which I used for the guards on my corded Italian).

I'd like something nice and wide, ~1.25 to 1.5" or so, and the best colors I'm finding are at Twilltape.com (seriously!), but they only sell it in 72-yard rolls!  :o The price is really good (about $25, or 35 cents/yard!), but still--72 yards! I only need 8 for the skirt.

I know the best thing to do would be buy one of the rolls of white or natural, and dye it myself--but I know myself, and I'll spend the rest of the season trying to decide on (and then perfect) a dye color. I don't need that project! LOL

So. In order to justify the purchase of so much twill tape in whatever color, I need ideas for how to use up the rest of it! (It's not even a particularly versatile width; 5/8" would go for drawstrings, etc, pretty easily--but 1.25" is pretty substantial.)

Ideas? (How much casing do you need for a spiral-corded petticoat?)

Gramercy!!

Corset bone casings, waistbands, hem stiffening or skirt facings, inner hat bands.

Spiral petticoat might roughly take up 12 yards.

Wrist wrapping from when you do too much sewing....

You know, you're actually making me want to buy the big roll, just to do all of that. Now I just need to decide what color I want all of my waistbands for the rest of my life! LOL

Keep the brainstorming coming, good gentles!

I would love to invest in a nice large roll of the stuff. In theater we could use any color to be honest as long as it isn't seen on stage.  there were people in the sydney opera who loved that they went out on stage with a care bear bum roll.  Since you never saw the quilted fabric used on the bum roll it didn't matter. LOL  ;D
It is kind of strange watching your personal history become costume.

Before I get in over my head with this, I've ordered the black tape I need to finish the guards on my corded Italian dress, to see how I even like the size. I'm still working on the pinked suede, and it looks like I can get away with about 3/4 yard if I decide to make my own guards.

...And I've posted an inquiry about dyeing to the professional dyers on my needlework group.  :o

Stay tuned!

i just made a pretty  nice cage-crinoline, used about 32 yards. and it looks very nice. :) It was tedious, but worth it!
