Sheesh, I go to a conference for a few days without wifi (don't get me started on the whole "what kind of conference doesn't have wifi?!" thing), and y'all go crazy.

With as much as I need this time with all of you insane people, I may not be able to be the moderating influence you seem to be in need of. Just sayin'.

It seems like just yesterday, it was 11 days....How time flies....

And the anguished cries of my co-workers grow louder ...

"You'll be gone HOW LONG?"

Eight days. It's on our office calendar. (I'm tacking a five-day backpacking trip on after RenDezvous. Hoping there's some fall color but not too much in the way of fall temperatures in the lower mountains.)

Keep whining, co-workers, keep whining. Music to my ears.

Nimue has gotten the same response from her co-workers. She is already on vacation, and won't be returning to the hospital until Oct 31.  The doctors and nurses HATE it when she leaves, because she treats them well.

At this time, one week from right now, I plan to be done loading up the car and starting my drive to North Carolina. We'll get there Thursday evening, giving us plenty of time to get over car lag before RenDezvous starts rolling Friday night.

Alas, I must add ... we will not be loading up Florida oranges so we can share fresh Florida orange juice at the tailgate. Our oranges will not be ready. Checking around produce stands and greengrocers, no one can get us oranges before Nov. 1.

I am super excited to meet all of you; gotta get to know Nim and the secrets to living with an old codger ( and Iain, I am actually glad you aren't bringing oranges - it was never my intention to beg OJ from you (though it wouldn't have been refused), I just wanted to learn about oranges from you, as at the ripe old age of 52 I discovered A) that I love them and B) that I don't have a clue how to pick a good one. 

You should have an EXCELLENT week for backpacking it seems.  The color is nowhere near its peak yet. 

Can't believe I am almost wishing my weekend at MDRF away so that Rendezvous can get here already....

If Nimue divulges her secret for staying with an olde phart like me, please tell ME! Ihave no clue how she does it.

Nim is an extraordinary woman, and the love of my life. PLEASE NOTE: She is stone deaf in her right ear. If you speak to her and she does not respond, you'll either need to get in front of her, or the other side. I don't want anyone to get the impression that she is snubbing them!

We will be in Charlotte by this time next week. We're going to spend Thursday night with my cousin, then head to our hotel Friday...I think I may have already said that somewhere...

Sometimes Merlin, I think you and Nim are the mirror twins of us.   my Ewan (my olde phart) is stone deaf in his LEFT ear.  He is, however, gonna be your new best friend knowing that you have the musical background you do.  He has never been able to play a single instrument but is SUCH an audiophile, knowing more about music, even genres he doesn't care for, than a combined 10 other people I know.  Something tells me that he will find a kindred spirit in you both. 

Come on Oct 26th.

I'll bring some FREE copies of a CD my band did 10 years ago... You may need a sense of humour for such hits as "Girls Surf Better in Bathing Suits," "Golden Stars, Golden Showers," and the totally off-the-wall "I Don't Like This Party."  One of the tunes on the CD actually garnered an Honourable Mention in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest several years ago.

It will be fun to meet you and Ewan...and everyone else!

What's a CD? Is that like an alternative storage device for your iTunes? Why not just put them on the cloud instead?
