Ravers advertising a rave at TRF

I'm not weighing in per say, but I was camped  right across the road from that strobbing hell....Turns out that it will takes three beers, half a bottle of stout loki, and a mug or two of mead to sleep through that din....Some people call for their heads, I call for a refill!

That's right foks, the EDM/Raver scene is gonna invate the Texas RenFest first weekend (and more weekends after)! Errbody c'mon out! We're gonna party like no other.

Office is mulling it over how to proceed and others have contacted them advising them to follow the rules and they in kind have said they will this year due to the mishap last year...we'll see.

LOL We are no longer camping first weekend. That was decided before I saw this but glad we decided on a day trip. I am attending with my mom and daughter who have never camped and they are the reason I wanted to camp, to show them the fun. If I would have had to deal with this I would never get them back to faire let alone camping....I am thinking our new home faire is going to end up changing to Sherwood because TRF is getting too big and camping is getting too far away from what it was when we started. Most of our friends also attend there so we would only miss a few acts, and if nothing else I will drive the 6 - 8 hour round trip to day trip once a year and save my money.

So I just checked out that link and they are saying they are getting in Thursday to set up, making it sound like they are being partnered with TRF. I hope if they are then they are under some kinda of noise control and security.

Bonnie, the post about them coming in was responded to and they, I hope, know that they won't be able to get in.  If you scroll through the post you'll see that they are trying hard to not let the tings happen this year like they did last year.

On the other side of the coin if you look at Koolagh's post in TRF you'll see that they are going to change rules before faire starts about amplified music.  

Oh, and Terre joined the event as well so I feel it's in safe hands now.

I know you aren't defending them  but if they can manage and control a heard of cats as large as expected then I want to take a management course from them lol!

I have been reading all of the posts on the page and while I see some good intentions, it is going to be very hard for 5-6 people to truly manage what they pledge, I give them kudos for trying though.

Yep, I saw Terre on the attendance list which is a boon.

Rules on amplified music?  I am a little on the fence about this.  I'd hate to see the 'there oughta be a law' train come in and slowly start taking away all our fun.

Well the admins of that page deleted the discussion thread that was going on where they were being asked to figure out ways to muffle the sound, etc.  Guess it would have looked like too much of a downer for the invitees lol.  Don't get me wrong, I am all about folks having a good time but I don't get the whole rave/faire combo.  Maybe I'm just gettin' old... gonna go cry in the corner now....

Sounds to me like some are already planning on breaking the rules.. i feel this is going to end up just as badly as last year.. I sure hope I am wrong though

I don't mind people having a good time... I don't even mind loud music, to an extent (prefer pipes & drums) ... and if they show respect to people around them, that's well & good.  If people, as a group go and act stupid, they deserve to get hosed down with pepper spray.  If they want to act like humans, great... act like heathens, meet the Grimes County Sheriffs.

I wonder where they will be located.  I hope Mike does as he mentioned and locates the ravers across from the Law Enforcement office.  Maybe that will cause them to show a little restraint and not disturb people for miles around.  Guess I had better find my ear plugs for opening weekend.
