Grov

Like their style, not so sure about their music.

Yeah, not the greatest, but interesting nonetheless. Love the photos of their attire on stage and in promos, and also a video of Cap'n Robert sword-fighting with someone out front of their booth at Dragon Con.

OMG, I got my goggles today! I love them so so much! Thanks a ton!  :-*
Still Meggers, just a little more grown up now. :)

I'm glad you like them.  If I hadn't already order others or known he would come up with a pair, I'd have kept them myself.  Nothing wrong with sharing the loots though.

We love some of Abney Park's stuff, we've got a couple songs we use as packing up music in the van as we're leaving faire.

I'ld recommend people first check out their CDs "Death of Tragedy" and the newest one "Lost Horizons" There's a number of "steampunk" bands, but a lot of them are only steamy in terms of their clothing or website, whereas Abney Park not only has the look, but you can't get more Steampunk than songs with lyrics about airship pirates and and life-sized clockwork dolls.

I watched the video posted earlier & liked the look and the belly dancer, but couldn't understand a word.  Are you sure they're singing in English?  It's either the sound quality or the fact that I have reached an age where everything must be eee-nun-see-a-ted.  But I'm fairly sure it's just the sound, right?  Right?!  I'll pick up a cd when I get paid.

That's more a matter of the recording on the video, but Capt. Robert does have a deep kind of a deep whispery voice on some of their tracks which gets lost easily on a "bootleg" live recording like that.

Checkout their Myspace page for some of their songs like "Airship Pirate"

There's also some free samples in the "vault" area of their website

Yes that video was a rather poor one for sound....it was just some thing from a local con here in Florida...

But if you go to YouTube and look for Abney Park and you will find some that have a lot better sound!  ;D
So what are you doing this weekend?
I'm going to BARF!!!
You're going to...wait...WHAT???

The dress I ordered came in and it's ... okay.  I'm not sure if I like it, but I need to get corsetted and then pinned to make it fit to my curves.  Then we'll see.

Woohoo!!!  Taffy got some new goodies!!!  Can't wait to see!

I'm sad because the boots Grov found for me... don't fit...   :'(  They seem to be a 9 in mens instead of womens, and that really bites, because they're perfect for S/P...  I'll post the pic he sent me on here to see if someone thinks they would work for them, and if so I can ship then sometime next month.  I'd really love to see someone wearing them at TRF!

Have to put up the pic after I get the new comp, though, so next week sometime.

I do have all the pieces of my skirt assmebled, though, and ready to stitch together!  Plus lots of goodies ready for wiring together as clanks and jewelry!  Might even have some really cool favors to give out just for invasion day!!!  Excited all over again!  LOL

What size do you wear?  I'm forever finding cool-o boots at the 2nd hand shops for next to nothing.

How much of a heel and do you need a specific color?  Engineer, granny, or ?  Ankle or knee high?

OH!!!  I have a pair!  I just dug out my brown Italian leather 15 hole/hook lace up Doc's, and they're absolutely perfect!!!  I was going to use them before Grov found the other pair (that I adore :( ), so it's back to the original plan.  They're very low heel, with great tread, so I'll be ok if there's mud.  I don't do heels at all, unless I'm not going to have to stand much, and then just very low, but my character is a sky ship engineer, so she wouldn't have heels, anyway.

Wail until you see all the really cool old stuff I've assembled for, well, assembly... I took a few pics with my phone, and as soon as I host them on photobucket I'll post them here, just of all the cool odds and ends that are going into my jewelry and gizmo's!!!  Still need more brass wire, and some copper foil and rubbing powder, but I can start putting things together tonight.  I've got a couple of special projects in the works also.

Might I suggest looknig at the library for books on the subject of Altered Art?  They've got really graet ideas for stuff that's perfect for S'Punky folks like all of us!!!

Happy S'Punking, everyone...

(edit)  Thanks for thinking of me, Taffy!!!

Sort of, just haven't done it yet. A, B, and C!

A: Sort of goes hand in hand with things. A lot of the people that I take pics of as Rennies are into other things as well. So while I was a photographer first and then a Rennie, it seems that I will be following the same trek with other things.......maybe. That is, maybe that is the pathway but on the other hand as well, it just may be the orientation one has to begin with since during the 80's, I did one or two Aggiecons as a character from a Star Wars universe.....but not the kind one could find in the movies at the time. It's escapism. We work hard during the week to play harder during the weekend.

B: Some of my acting friends are into Cosplay and as I might follow them into that, I will probably follow them into this.

C: Looking at it, Whovian could be Steampunk a lot. After all, some versions of the TARDIS control room are like that to say nothing about some of the places them go to.........and I'm certainly a Whovian.

Rani, I got you a pair of flat black lace-up ankle grannys & a pair of brown "suede" ankles that have quite a heel, but are cuter than a bug's ear in 9's.  Let me know.

I got a great squirt gun & Nerf gun for 99 cents each that both have TOO much ray gun potential.  They just got their first coat of white primer.  I'm not much of one for putting clanks and such together, but I'm a heller w/paint.
