I get my gears at Michaels or Hobby Lobby (or any scrapbooking store). Tim Holtz's stuff is amazing, and I just got some new gears by 7 Gypsies.

At B & N last night, you know how on the end of some isles they have certain featured books? Well, I nearly burst out laughing when I saw "Steampunk Fiction" at the end of one of them...

The sleeveless jacket is on the back burner whilst awaiting a new shipment of spiral boning.  There won't be a lot of time to sew this weekend, if any, but a matching bustle and coordinating anklet spats are in the planning stage.

"Incidentally those costumes -- the only ones they have -- strongl appear to be left over from a production of "Our American Cousin." You know, the play where this happened:"

This made my day lol

Yet another link. This fellow gives new meaning and depth to the phrase Steampunk Contraptions.

last month, "Dickens on the Strand," did a steampunk theme section, complete with vendors, and a band.  I didn't get to see the band, but the fashion is very industrial, lots of gears, goggles, "victorian adventurer" style.  Lots of aviator and airship influence.  Lots of brass, with words like "baron" or "baroness." Hand-tooled leather is common as well. Girls like high-heel boots with gears attached, boys like motorcycle type boots with gears attached.  Stovepipe hats, lots and lots of these.  Bird cages, propellers, etc. I particularly liked the steampunk hat made out of a cowboy hat.  Very texas!

It reminds me a lot of "Dr. Who." meets "the future that neverwas."

Cool stuff.  My guess it will be popular at Renaissance Festivals with patrons.  It's off-theme for historical events, but it's a lot of fun! Nice to see a different crowd enthusiastic about something. The costumed participants did seem to be a different demographic than your typical "traveling patron."

I went to my first Steampunk event last night. It was just a Meet up group, but it's the group that did the Upstate Steampunk Convention here in Greenville last November. James came with me, and it was alot of fun!! The vast range of folks there intrigued and shocked me. From being on this forum, reading this thread I already knew most ages were interested, but I didn't expect to see the lady that could've almost been my great-grandma, lol.
Anyway, this has renewed my interest, and James is gonna help me with some accessories.!!!!

For any SP knitters:  The Sanguine Gryphon - http://www.sanguinegryphon.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=22_97

They sell the patterns.  They have a shawl that I want so badly...
