I have indeed.  I left the sleeves off to make it vest instead of jacket.  Here's me at World Steam Expo from May  (I wish I had gotten better pics):

Serenamoonsilver, very nice.  Did you do the pleating on the skirt?

I saw a woman wearing the coat at the local steam punk meet up.  I'd like to see some boning in it.

Serena,
I love the little Sailor Boy! What a sweet family group!

Ohh I wanna do that! LOVE the sailor outfit on your little boy.

Wonderful pics!  Can't wait for our next Steam event!!!  Whatever it will be...  lol

You know... I would think there would be a better way of doing the badges for something like this.  They just look so completely out of place, and it can really interfere with the overall impression of a costume to have this large rectangle of mundane plastic right out where it can't help but catch the eye...

Why be mundane when you can be a Rennie?!

I did do the pleating, but because that's a poly satin, it looks more like a ruffle.  I don't know if I'd put boning in the  jacket if you're wearing it over the bustier which already has boning in it, but it defintely could using some adjustment, as I saw two other people wearing it and they all had that bunching issue I had.  I only got to talk to one of them and she had someone else sew it for her.

And thank you all for the compliments.  The sailor suit is a rather sentimental thing--I was talking to mother-in-law about finding a sailor suit for him and she told me she had just the thing.  A few days later she brought that over along with pictures of my husband wearing it when he was little.

Oh, now THAT is a precious memento!!!  And now that you have the photos of both of them wearing it you can create something to display them, as well!

Hello all,
we are finally back from DragonCon

I figured I would share some of the pictures I took. Sorry if its too picture heavy.
We were planning on marching in the parade as superheroes- cheetara and the flaming C but we ended up marching in the steampunk sect instead.
here are some of the pictures.

My beloved gave me this as an early bday present (my bday is at the end of October) so I could wear it to DCon

Here we are-one of the spectators took this picture

I really liked the whole chest and back piece on this guy- couldnt figure out what he was though

I loved this lady's hat

WewT!!!  You two look AMAZING!!!  I LOVE your weapon, and I really, REALLY want one!!!  I want more close-ups of all your accessories, as well!  The skeleton watch is beautiful, and such a sweet birthday gift, and from someone who will always support your mad costuming whims, which makes it even MORE special!  Can't wait to see all the rest of your pics from this weekend, as well!!!

You look mahvelous, Auryn!

All this mad, inspired, sparky costuming is the reason I fell in head over heels with SP.  And that hat - totally made of win &  awesome.

I found this on CNN.  Interesting comments too.

Thanks for the pics Auryn.  The two of you look great!

Auryn

Thanks for the compliments guys, it means a lot.
I read the article too. The dirigible they talk about is pretty awesome, I saw it in the parade.

I wonder if all the costumes they talk about people saved up for sunday night when they tried to break the world record because to be honest, I was kinda surprised at how few steampunk costumes we saw.
maybe we were just not in the right place at the right time.
