I really dig the whole steampunk thing as well.

Deviant art is a site I use for inspiration when I have an idea for something.  It'll blow your mind how much stuff there is out there.  There's some really cool stuff out there.  Neat thing is, you can really let your creativity explode, as the genre has a particular style about itself, but is otherwise unbound.

Thanks for the Comic link!  I immediately recognized the drawing style as the same artist that did a graphic novel "Buck Godot: Zap Gun For hire" that I must have gotten when I was a teenager.  That was some time ago, now.  I'll have to check it out.

The grand perfessers Foglio - I'll be making a pilgrimage to Chicago in November w/the express reason of saying Howdy to them & buying a tschotschke (or 50) from them.  Girl Genius was one of the inspirations for the upcoming steampunk invasion at TRF.

After many many hours of agonizing I have put my invasion garb together (at least in my mind).  I'm waiting for some bits to come in the mail and think it will be even better than I have any right to expect.

I have Spanish Peacock (from the TRF forum) to thank for turning me on to Girl Genius, almost a year ago, now, and I've enjoyed turning others on to her in my own stead!  The Profs are brilliant, GG is soooo full of Teh Awesome!!!... and I'd give lots to tag along with you on that particular journey, Taffy!!!

All of my projects have been put on temporary hold, pending the completion of my new crafting center, which includes a new shelf for holding all of my supplies for every type of crafting I enjoy...  It's 8'L x 6'H x 12-16"D (depending on the shelf), and it holds all of my accoutrements for sewing; jewelry making; sculpting (stone and clay); painting; spinning, knitting and weaving; as well as various other one-off projects as I find them.  I also have positioned my kitchen table as a cutting table for cutting patterns and sewing, so my dining area is now my crafting room!!!  Once it's all organized it will be so much easier to access everything, as well as keeping it all within the same area, so I can have the rest of my house back!!!  At the moment I have projects scattered all over my house, so this will be a really nice change!

Oh!  Last weekend I found the coolest pump action brass oil can to hang from my belt!!!  Looks like I'm going to have some serious paring down to do with my accessories!  I've got so many ideas and gadgets that I could literally accessorize at least 3 different sets of garb, and if I tried to carry all the cool little belt gizmos I've found I probably wouldn't be able to walk!!!  ROFL

Love the Diviant website.  I just went thru it and downloaded a boatload of pics there to try and start to design my own steampunk garb.  I'd like it have it ready for TRF this year, but maybe not?  Steampunk is so fun, I just really enjoy the look.

We need to figure a time to meet so we can get a nice picture.  Maybe 11:30 at the POW since the usual RF meet up is there at noon?  Whatdya think?

That makes me wonder. I'm not a regular around the various Ren faires, so how will you all recognize me so I can meet you and such? Besides, this will be my first time dressing up for faire. :)

Selkie, can you post a photo in your icon?  If you don't have one, maybe get a pin from DeadBishop.  Maybe the steampunkers could meet at say 10 by the entry gate.  Anyone else have any ideas?

Ummm...  I'm thinkin' a SteamPunk Selkie might just stand out a bit!  LOL

We'll probably all at least make it to the R/F meet-n-greet, so if we miss you everywhere else we'll at least run into you there!

I do agree that we should arrange a time and place to meet, though, and maybe we could plan an invasion activity that we could all participate in, as well, so we can make a show of force!!!  I think we'd have much more impact if we took a turn around the grounds (or at least a partial tour, since I hear the place is huge!) en masse, what?

If you are unwilling or unable to display yourself to us ahead of time, then the onus will be on you to present yourself when you see one of us.  You can be all sneaky that way.

This is only my 3rd season & there are only a few people I would recognize since I don't go every weekend & even when I do make it, I don't always get there in time for the meet and greet.  I know, I'm a slug.  Also, since I'm old & fluffy, I am withering on the vine by mid afternoon & tend to split early.

How about 9:15 at the Dove Meadow, watch the 9:30 Tartanic performance, and then step out together (window shopping all the way) to our first beverage of the day.  coughcough Spanish Sunrise coughcough  That way we don't step on the regular RF'ers noon m&g, can show off our bad selves en masse, and can get to know each other a little better.  If all goes well, maybe we could to meet somewhere after the noon m&g for lunch.

If anyone has any ideas about something special we could do, let us know.
