I put in the last stitches of my jacket today and started the lapel trim this evening (venise lace & crystals).  Once the trim is completed all that will be left is to make & buttonhole the front connecting straps & sew in buttons.

To cooordinate w/the suit is an elbow length capelet w/a standup collar.  The fabrics I've chosen are lipstick red textured charmeuse for the body, w/an overlay of black, embroidered scroll organza.  The overlay gives the outer layer a black cherry appearance.  It will have an inner layer of fleece for warmth.

Wow... can't wait to see pics!!!  ;D  It sounds divine!!!  You are so industrious, Taffy!

I've officially decided on the caramel/brown corset (that was originally supposed to be chocolate brown) for Steampunk Saturday, so I can now choose the fabric for the side panels of my skirt.  I've also decided on leather lacing for the skirt sides, since I've got a couple of spools that will match the corset nicely. Finally, I can start sewing, instead of just deconstructing... LOL

Rani- Can't wait to see pics of your ensemble!

Taffy- Can't wait to see your things in person! I'm gonna look shabby standing next to you!

After a long break from sewing I have finally decided on patterns for my skirt and bustled overskirt. I'm finishing up another (non- sewing/costuming) project while I wait for my pattern order to arrive.

Once I get it all put together I'll try to get some shots of it...  :)

Steam powered RV! Interesting site...  http://neverwashaul.com/

Interesting.

But if it can't be shortened for transport, since it's 24-feet Tall, that will really limit where it can be moved due to various things that cross over roadways (Phone, Cable, & Power Lines, Traffic Signals, Road Overpasses, etc.).

Neverwashaul also has a great shop on Etsy.  They are one of my favorite vendors.

This is what I have been working on insead of sewing my steampunk garb. :D

Introducing Genevieve!
I recieved her Monday and here's what she looked like after just a little hairstyling:

Since then she has been sand-matted removing her stock makeup, given sleep eyes, painted eyelids, painted eyeliner, new shadow, and stock eyelashes replaced with human hair lashes. She also got some new clothes, a white doggy, and a laptop so she can look just like me! lol
Here's what she looks like today:

Bringling us back to the Steampunk topic- Ultimately I want to make her some garb like this:

That is the cutest doll evah!  She is absolutely adorable & I love what you've done w/her.  The wigs & stuff for these dolls is inspiring.  Congrats on the new baby!

Aww! Where did you get that cute doll? Is she a ball-jointed doll? How much did she cost?

No she's not a BJD (though some do switch out bodies). She's a Blythe doll. Find info here: http://www.thisisblythe.com/

About to pre-wash my 10 yards of purple taffeta.  Hope to work on skirt this weekend.  Have materials for hat, too!

Fun doll, Sealion!  She looks very much like you, or at least the you I've seen with hair down... I love the gear eyes!  Can't wait to see her in her new garb!!!

Marga, 10 yards of purple taffeta absolutely terrifies me!!!  ROFL  I can't wait to see what you do with it, though.  I know it will be gorgeous...

Love the NeverWas...

Can't decide which fabric to use for my skirt, and I've gotten the urge to make a completely new one for Ren with some wonderful fabrics I've been saving for cooler weather garb, so I might start on that until the Steam builds back up...  Training is going well with the brown corset, and it's getting to be very much more what I was hoping it would be, although the green still confounds me, and I'm just not sure we'll ever become friends.

I'm starting to come out of my recent funk, which is good, since I'm mostly sure I managed to avoid alienating anyone I really like in the last few days!  (I hope, anyway...)
